Fujitsu servers will now be available in the United States through distributor Tech Data.

The computing vendor signed a deal with the Clearwater, Fla., distributor to increase its presence in commercial markets in the United States. Fujitsu had been working with less than 100 U.S. partners, and the Tech Data deal marks the first through distribution in the United States. Tech Data also recently announced a similar agreement to distribute Fujitsu Eternus SAN solutions.

"The initial engagement will be with partners Fujitsu has already established relationships with," said John O’Shea, director of Tech Data’s AIS (Advanced Infrastructure Solutions) organization. "We also have a great crop of Fujitsu imaging resellers."

For Tech Data, the new Fujitsu server offerings beef up its offerings through AIS, O’Shea added.

"When we started this year, AIS was very focused on enabling VAR partners to get engaged in opportunities in x86 servers," he said, particularly given the opportunities in blade servers and the proliferation of storage. "One of our missions is to continue to offer additional options to reseller customers. We think Fujitsu has excellent products, and they are helping us with that mission."

The new deal covers Fujitsu Primergy servers including the TX120, a small business/branch-office tower server that is a third of the size and consumes 40 percent less power than standard tower servers; the RX300 S3 rack-mounted server designed for data center scalability and offering Intel Xeon or quad-core processors and integrated remote management capabilities; and the BX600 blade server that supports up to 10 dual-processor blade servers, a combination of dual- and quad-core blades or AMD- and Intel-powered blades, Tech Data said.

Tech Data and Fujitsu also will offer VARs bundled Primergy and Eternus solutions as well as servers pre-configured with virtualization software.
