DSGi, one of the largest VARs in the UK, may cut as many as 13 jobs from its back office as it prepares to migrate ERP systems.
The company, which owns the PC World Business, Equanet and Mac Warehouse brands, told eWEEK’s Channel Insider that all 13 positions are in its offices in Surbiton, UK, where the Equanet team is based. DSGi acquired Equanet in August 2005.
“As we develop our organization and after an extensive review we have decided to migrate to DSGi and Equanet to common systems,” said David Gould, commercial director at DSGi business. “The overall business needs to become more efficient in working as one, and so we have made the decision which means some roles are at risk of redundancy. The roles are all in the back office and there is no effect on any customer facing staff.”
He said the company has taken its time to migrate the systems so it could plan and phase the implementation of the DGSi system into the Equanet offices.
“Clearly we will do what we can for the people at risk to seek opportunities both internal and external—they will have a full consultation period. This is not a decision that has been taken lightly.
DSGi employs 800 people, with 90 operating under the Equanet.
