Novell Inc. is bending over backwards to make sure that its installed base of NetWare customers and resellers get a chance to review Novell’s Linux offerings by providing them with free copies of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and Novell Nterprise Linux Services 1.0. The promotion is designed to show customers how the products can add value to their businesses today, as well as to prepare them for the upcoming release of Novell Open Enterprise Server.

Open Enterprise Server will include both the NetWare Version 7.0 and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 kernels. The new dual-kernel operating system package is expected to ship by the end of this year—a year ahead of schedule.

The promotion, which runs through the end of this year, allows NetWare customers with active Novell maintenance or upgrade protection agreements to use SuSE Linux and Nterprise Linux Server under their existing licensing agreements.

Qualifying customers can download the software from the Novell Bridge Web site. Use of the software is restricted to the terms of customers’ existing Novell license agreements, including supported users, applications or workloads. NetWare customers without maintenance or upgrade protection are not eligible to participate, but
if they enter a maintenance or upgrade protection agreement with Novell, they can immediately take advantage of this promotional offer.
