Want to know yet another place where people are cutting back and “doing more with less” during the recession — and one that could mean a few extra dollars in solution provider pockets?

Online IT services marketplace OnForce CEO Peter Cannone says that his company has seen a spike in consumer orders to replace their cable television with digital high-definition antennas.

“We’ve seen extensive growth in antenna installation,” he says. “We are seeing consumers canceling satellite and cable TV contracts and asking for high-def TV antenna installations. We were actually shocked by the fact that one of our providers had a 400 percent increase in their antenna business in Q2.”

Cannone also says that rather than buy home theaters or new televisions, OnForce saw more work orders for in-warranty and out-of-warranty television and home theater repairs. Times are tough everywhere.
