Intel and LSI plan to broaden their lineup of multigenerational SAS/SATA RAID offerings for the channel.

The expansion brings LSI the strength of Intel’s channel presence and broadens Intel’s product line. The two companies began the collaboration in 2003.

Under this expanded agreement, Intel will make available to its system builders LSI’s RAID-on-a-Chip and MegaRAID technology. The technology will broaden the LSI SAS/SATA RAID products for Intel servers and workstations that are already available, executives at the companies said.

The companies will offer four new SAS/SATA controllers and one system board in the first quarter to its current portfolio of SCSI, SATA and SAS RAID.

The expanded product offerings give partners more options, according to LSI.

“The channel needs more product variety,” said Mike Gurin, director of channel marketing at LSI. “System builders and integrators want the entire solution set while OEMs will settle for just one option. So we’ve worked with Intel to create one-stop shopping for them.”
