The channel’s most famous dad, Jeff Archuleta, reportedly got into a bit of a scrape with the American Idol folks this week. Hey, the guy gets animated when he’s passionate about something and he likes to see things done right. If nothing else, you know for sure he’s one of us.

According to the Associated Press, a source who works for American Idol and spoke on condition of anonymity said Jeff ‘s backstage pass has been revoked. That means he can’t be in rehearsals with his boy, the front-running 17-year-old David Archuleta. The source told a reporter that Jeff’s biggest transgression was pushing Idol producers to allow a change to the lyrics of “Stand By Me.” The horror.

Call him a stage dad, but it all sounds pretty reasonable to me. If you’re wondering why I care, it’s because David is awesome and because Jeff Archuleta is a successful VAR. Jeff is the principal and founder of Arch Consulting Group, a Salt Lake City reseller, “specializing in locating and purchasing the highest quality of technical equipment through non-traditional channels.” Check out previous posts and comments on Jeff and David Archuleta. No matter what anyone at AI has to say about dad, the Archuletas are part of the channel family and we want David to win!
