Snom Technology, a developer of IP desktop phones and IP communications solutions, announced it has partnered with Zyxel Communications, a networking company that provides Internet solutions for customers ranging from telecommunications service providers, medium-sized businesses to home users to offer end-to-end VOIP solution for small to medium-size businesses (SMBs). After testing, Zyxel Ethernet switches and Snom’s IP communication devices have been certified to interoperate for a combined business VOIP solution.

Zyxel’s Power-over-Ethernet-enabled Ethernet switches are designed to ensure stable and consistent data transmission for performance-intensive applications like voice and video. Coupled with the VOIP system from Snom, the combined solution is simplified as a ready-to-deploy voice communication for businesses. For network installers, they are equipped with an integrated and scalable solution that can help sustain business continuity with their customers, the companies said in a joint statement.

“Zyxel shares our passion and business objective for IP-based business applications and expect our collaboration to benefit both our reseller partners and our end customers to offer reliable, cost-effective VoIP solutions to SMBs on an international scale,” said Mike Storella, COO of Snom.

Snom’s suite of VOIP desktop phones includes IP phones such as the 3xx series, full-color touchscreen desktop phones such as the 870, and SIP phones qualified by Microsoft for use with Microsoft Lync 2010 – the Snom 300 UC edition and 821 UC edition. The company’s portfolio also includes the Snom ONE IP PBX and its hardware-based equivalent, the ONE plus.

Zyxel offers a line of carrier-grade Ethernet switches. Some of the key features that many Zyxel switches share are non-blocking architecture for enhanced performance, Power over Ethernet (PoE) convenience for connecting VoIP devices, traffic prioritization for bandwidth intensive voice, video and data applications, Quality of Service for VoIP and video traffic and green compliance with newest 802.3az EEE standard.

“IP based telephony is a critical business application and Zyxel recognizes the importance of providing reliable and easy to install integrated VoIP solution,” said Alpha Chen, vice president of enterprise solution business unit for Zyxel. “The collaboration with Snom has combined the best-of-breed networking expertise and VOIP products for an integrated solution for unified communication.”
