Scale Computing, a hyperconverged infrastructure and edge virtualization platform, has been acquired by Acumera, a provider of secure edge connectivity.
Through this acquisition, Acumera has improved its ability to deliver fully integrated, scalable edge platforms for enterprises operating across distributed locations.
Scale Computing brand will remain as Acumera promises growth and resiliency
Although Acumera is the one making the acquisition, the combined entity will be known as Scale Computing.
“We believe Acumera and Scale Computing customers and partners will benefit from having the ability to leverage both the Scale Computing Platform and the Acumera SaaS solutions for edge computing, secure edge networking, managed network services, and PCI compliance for multi-site businesses,” said Bill Morrow, CEO of the new Scale Computing. “The newly combined company’s technology offerings are a significant step forward in our vision to empower organizations of all sizes with intelligent, AI-ready edge infrastructure that reduces complexity while enhancing performance and resilience. We are enthusiastic about this opportunity and together we will redefine what’s possible at the edge.”
Together, the combined company will bring Acumera’s secure managed edge and network capabilities, in the form of the AcuVigil Platform, along with the edge application orchestration and Point of Sale integration capabilities of the Acumera Reliant Platform, as well as the edge AI and virtualization platform of Scale Computing. The fusion of these capabilities creates an edge computing-focused software company that can serve customers worldwide from one to 100,000 locations.
Vertical-focused MSPs and existing partners look to benefit from additional products and offerings
Further, the acquisition boosts innovation in the retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and energy industries, as well as for managed service providers (MSPs). Existing Acumera and Scale Computing customers and partners will benefit from enhanced product integration, broader support capabilities, and a unified roadmap for edge intelligence.
“Joining forces with Acumera marks an exciting new chapter for Scale Computing, our customers, our partners, and our team,” said Scale Computing’s former CEO and co-founder Jeff Ready. “The new Scale Computing will bring even more innovative and powerful solutions to our partners and customers.”
Ready will now serve as President and Chief Marketing Officer for the new Scale Computing.
