Data security provider Druva has recently announced the expansion of its Microsoft ecosystem coverage with a series of new capabilities to boost cyber resilience and simplify protection for enterprise environments.

Data Security Cloud solution targets need for resiliency without the traditional complexity

The new capabilities are meant to ensure enterprises can achieve clean, timely recovery of business-critical Microsoft data with zero infrastructure complexity.

“Microsoft environments are the foundation of enterprise operations, so they are prime targets for cyberattacks,” said Stephen Manley, CTO at Druva. “Businesses need a comprehensive solution that safeguards every facet of their Microsoft 365 environment and ensures IT and security teams have complete visibility and recoverability across their infrastructure. The Druva Data Security Cloud addresses this need, giving customers assurance that their Microsoft environments are secure and resilient.”

Where traditional backup tools fall short, the Druva Data Security Cloud offers a fully managed, cloud-native solution that eliminates infrastructure complexity and unifies protection, governance, and recovery, helping organizations detect threats earlier, maintain compliance, and restore clean data with confidence.

Druva is a leader in SaaS-based data protection and security, with deep integration across the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and core Azure services such as Azure VMs, Azure SQL, and Azure Blob Storage.

“Enterprises are rethinking how they secure identity and access,” said Scott Harrison, infrastructure solutions executive at CDW. “Druva’s cloud-native Entra ID protection brings cyber resilience into that equation, helping organizations close critical security gaps, strengthen governance, and recover cleanly from identity-based threats.”

Expanded functionality brings increased Entra ID and Azure VM support

The new capabilities will “reinforce Druva’s leadership in cloud-native data protection and cyber resilience,” giving customers a unified view of Microsoft and Azure environments to secure recovery.

The expanded functionality for Druva includes:

  • Expanded Microsoft Entra ID Protection: Druva will now support Microsoft Entra ID Conditional Access Policies and Administrative Units. This will enable organizations to apply the same identity-based controls that protect logins to safeguard backup and recovery operations. Delivered through the Druva Data Security Cloud, the cloud-native integration reduces exposure to identity-driven attacks and strengthens compliance across complex, multi-tenant environments.
  • Advanced Cyber Recovery for Azure Virtual Machines: The Druva Data Security Cloud will now deliver advanced cyber recovery capabilities for Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), including malware and IOC scans during restore, AI-driven anomaly detection, and Safe Mode lockdown. The enhancements help organizations detect threats earlier, contain incidents faster, and recover clean data with confidence.
  • Cloud-Native Protection for Azure Files: Druva’s new agentless Azure Files Backup delivers cloud-native protection, removing vulnerabilities introduced by traditional agent-based backups that create dependencies, simplifying operations, and ensuring ransomware-resilient data protection, all managed within the Druva Data Security Cloud.
  • Protecting Collaboration and Communication for Microsoft Teams Private Chat: Druva will now extend Microsoft 365 coverage to include Microsoft Teams Private Chat, ensuring critical one-to-one and group chat conversations are securely backed up and recoverable. With protection across Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, organizations can maintain compliance and continuity without disrupting collaboration.

“With Druva, we have confidence that our Microsoft data is always protected and recoverable,” said Scott Laird, a cloud administrator at Manufacturing Technology, Inc. “The platform gives us the assurance that even in a cyber incident, we can recover quickly and cleanly. It’s comprehensive, easy to manage, and keeps our team resilient while saving time and reducing cost.”

In late summer this year, Druva moved to expand its DruAI suite with agentic AI to automate security tasks. Read more about this expansion to proactively manage evolving cyber threats.
