Tech Data’s Technology Solutions business, formerly a division of Avnet, is offering the Cisco Security Incident Response Service for its partners in the United States and Canada. This managed service provides a range of capabilities to help organizations prepare for—and quickly recover from—security incidents.

As security breaches and increased cyber-threats make companies vulnerable to big losses in both revenue and customers, cyber-security technologies and services offer new opportunities to service providers. Add constant attacks on enterprise IT systems, a lack of security talent, budget constraints, and the complexity of managing multiple security products, and customers’ pain points rise significantly.

Cisco is an example of a company that is working closely with its channel partners to quickly find and mitigate these security risks, and to reduce their customers’ financial risks. The company believes that security is one of the biggest profit areas for channel partners, but it’s also one of their most complex challenges.

Cisco’s 2017 annual cyber-security report found that security professionals slipped in their investigation of security incidents from 2015 to 2016. This means they either aren’t using security tools effectively or they need simpler or streamlined tools that automate security processes.

As a turnkey security response program, the Cisco Security Incident Response Service is a solution within Cisco Security Advisory Services that will provide partners with the expertise to assess and design a security approach. This is achieved by combining best practices with a team of information security experts who have backgrounds in law enforcement, enterprise security and technology security.

“This team works directly with Cisco’s Talos, the security intelligence and research group, to identify known and unknown threats, quantify and prioritize risk, and reduce risk in the future,” according to Tech Data.

The addition of the service offering to the Tech Data Technology Solutions portfolio builds on its solutions specialist approach. Partners have access to Tech Data’s dedicated solutions specialists to develop complete security solutions for their customers.

At the same time, the distributor also provides its channel partners with expertise in complementary technology market segments. This is a key benefit for channel partners who are developing expertise in specific markets, as part of the IT industry’s trend toward specialization. These market segments include cloud, cognitive computing, data analytics, the data center, the internet of things (IoT), mobility, and training and education.
