OPSWAT, a provider of critical infrastructure protection (CIP) cybersecurity solutions, has opened a new state-of-the-art production facility in the U.S. to manufacture hardware domestically.

Facility in Florida will serve as production and logistics center for global operations

Through this Tampa, Fla.-based facility, OPSWAT will enhance supply chain integrity to ensure compliance with stringent U.S. and international security standards. It will also double down on its focus on delivering products to both government and enterprise customers.

The site serves as a secure production facility and a strategic logistics center within OPSWAT’s global operations network of 22 offices and facilities. It will expand the company’s production capacity to meet increasing global demand for cybersecurity solutions across defense, finance, energy, and manufacturing sectors.

According to OPSWAT, moving hardware production onshore will reduce several strategic, security, and operational risks associated with offshore production, especially for products intended to protect critical infrastructure or handle sensitive data.

Why the company emphasizes its US-based approach to cybersecurity hardware

Further, the move enables OPSWAT to boost product development and respond to emerging cybersecurity challenges and customer needs.

Among the risks that this move will help are:

  • Supply chain risks such as hardware tampering and counterfeit parts.
  • Geopolitical and regulatory risks, like export controls and sanctions.
  • Intellectual property and data protection risks, like theft and leakage.
  • Operational and continuity risks due to supply chain disruptions and quality challenges.

“Cybersecurity hardware is too important to outsource,” said Benny Czarny, founder and CEO of OPSWAT. “By building it here in the U.S., we ensure the transparency, quality, and supply chain resilience our customers expect, while also creating high-skilled jobs and demonstrating that American-made can be both secure and cost-competitive.”

OPSWAT will gain greater control and quality assurance through in-house manufacturing at every stage of the production process.

Dedicated Quality Assurance and Product Management teams will oversee testing and compliance processes to ensure high standards.

OPSWAT’s enterprise storage move

Recently, OPSWAT partnered with NetApp to integrate MetaDefender Storage Security with ONTAP to mitigate file-borne threats at the storage layer.

The combined solution of MetaDefender Storage Security and ONTAP will integrate OPSWAT’s advanced file security tools with NetApp’s storage platforms to help organizations detect and prevent hidden malware, macro threats, sensitive data leakage, and file-borne vulnerabilities before they reach critical applications or users.

“Organizations worldwide move massive volumes of files through the NetApp data platform and our storage systems daily,” said Spencer Sells, vice president of global alliances at NetApp. “By adding additional virus scanning capabilities from our partner ecosystem that enforce our position as the most secure storage on the planet, this new solution gives customers more choices in tools to stop file-borne threats before they spread, reduce compliance exposure, and keep critical operations running even as risks evolve.”
