Omega Systems, a provider of managed IT and cybersecurity services, announced a new managed Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution, Smart Secure Edge.

Cloud-native managed SASE brings security to distributed workforces

The solution is a cloud-native, fully managed SASE solution for delivering security, connectivity, and zero-trust access for cloud-forward businesses and distributed workforces.

Smart Secure Edge, the newest addition to Omega’s Smart Secure portfolio of managed network security services, now offers additional flexibility for organizations seeking to modernize their network security defenses.

“As more businesses decentralize infrastructure and embrace cloud-first operations, the need for flexible and intelligent security solutions becomes increasingly important,” said Ben Tercha, Omega Systems COO. “In the face of complex threats and rising operational challenges, Smart Secure Edge is engineered to deliver a seamless user experience that prioritizes agility and security without expensive capital outlays.”

Next-gen security and networking join a scalable platform for variety of customer needs

Cloud-first businesses, hybrid and remote workforces, and mid-market organizations without complex legacy infrastructure are archetypal setups for Smart Secure Edge. It enables businesses to move beyond traditional firewall and VPN technologies by converging next-gen security and networking into a single, scalable platform.

Further, the solution is built on Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). It delivers identity-based access, full SSL inspection, secure DNS, and content filtering across a global network of points of presence (PoPs).

Among the key benefits of Smart Secure Edge are:

  • Always-on connectivity for secure remote access wherever employees are.
  • Zero-trust architecture with granular controls to mitigate unauthorized access.
  • Cloud-native delivery to reduce capital expenditures.
  • Low-latency global access through encrypted tunnels and intelligent routing.

Q&A with Omega Systems COO Ben Tercha

Channel Insider was able to chat with Tercha for a brief Q&A on their latest solution and the opportunities it affords MSPs and MSSPs.

How does Smart Secure Edge integrate Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) principles to enhance security?

At its core, Smart Secure Edge applies Zero Trust by assuming nothing and verifying everything. The system authenticates every user and device before granting access and permissions, which only include specific applications, not the full network. This identity-driven approach eliminates lateral movement and ensures that all traffic is encrypted, inspected, and logged. It’s a major step forward from VPN-based access, where once a user connects, they can often see more than they should.

Which types of businesses or industries would benefit most from adopting Smart Secure Edge?

Organizations with remote teams, multiple offices, or growing cloud environments will see the biggest impact. Mid-market companies, in particular, gain enterprise-grade protection without the cost of staff demands of managing their own infrastructure. Smart Secure Edge is also well suited for industries with compliance obligations– like financial services and healthcare– where safeguarding data and meeting regulatory expectations are equally important.

Could you elaborate on the key features of Smart Secure Edge, such as SSL inspection and secure DNS?

Among its core capabilities, full SSL inspection decrypts and scans encrypted traffic, blocking hidden threats before they reach users or systems. Secure DNS adds another layer of defense, preventing connections to malicious or unauthorized domains. Combined with content filtering, identity-based access, and always-on connectivity, these features deliver consistent, cloud-native protection for employees working anywhere.

In what ways does Smart Secure Edge complement Omega’s existing Smart Secure portfolio and other managed security services?

Smart Secure Edge builds on Omega’s Smart Secure foundation, extending protection from on-premise networks to distributed users and cloud applications. It strengthens the network layer while solutions like Smart Guard (MDR) and Smart Comply (managed GRC) safeguard endpoints, data, and regulatory posture. Together, they create a defense-in-depth model verifying access, monitoring activity, and containing incidents quickly and effectively.

What opportunities exist for MSPs and MSSPs to integrate Smart Secure Edge into their service offerings?

For service providers, a SASE solution with Zero Trust architecture delivers network security protections without heavy investment in new infrastructure. It’s a managed, scalable service they can offer to customers who want modern, cloud-native protection but lack the in-house resources to run it themselves. That means new recurring revenue opportunities, stronger customer retention, and less operational overhead.

What role do you see Smart Secure Edge playing in the future of cybersecurity for cloud-forward businesses?

Security is no longer defined by physical boundaries– it has to move with users, devices, and data. Smart Secure Edge represents that evolution. It combines secure connectivity, identity-based access, and managed oversight into one service that adapts as business environments change. Looking ahead, models like this will underpin how organizations of all sizes secure their operations in a fully cloud-driven world.

Omega Systems has a long-standing commitment to driving cybersecurity and compliance for its clients. Learn more about the company’s transformation from a traditional MSP to an MSSP.
