Oracle kicked off a busy Oracle OpenWorld yesterday with the
launch of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c and a new set of features for Oracle
PartnerNetwork (OPN) designed to help partners get the most out of the
platform.

The new OPN resources made available this week include
updated OPN Specializations, a new Oracle Enterprise Manager Extensibility
Development Kit and improvements to the Oracle Validated Integration Program.
These partner releases will work in tandem with Enterprise 12c, a portfolio
update that the company says combines the management of the full Oracle stack
with complete cloud lifecycle management.

The platform’s new Enterprise Cloud Control console will
give partners the power to deliver business services made up of any combination
of infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) – including
database as a service (DBaaS) and middleware as a service (MWaaS) – and software
as a service (SaaS).  Enterprise Manager
12c offers cloud-friendly features such as built-in self-service, cloud
planning tools for architects and cloud administrators and comprehensive
metering and chargeback that includes pre-built integrations with Oracle
Communications Billing and Revenue Management.

Additionally, the new platform offers additional Oracle
Fusion Applications management capabilities, Oracle Applications Unlimited
support and new self-management capabilities for Oracle Fusion Middleware

"Customers are grappling with tremendous complexity in
IT centers, a condition often exacerbated by custom deployments and
integrations that make each system different and unique to manage,” said
Richard Sarwal, Oracle senior vice president, Product Development. “With Oracle
Enterprise Manager 12c, IT organizations can ease the management pains of
traditional data centers and fast track to the cloud, while maximizing service
quality and minimizing IT management costs.”

Enterprise Manager 12c’s new Extensibility Framework will
give partners the ability to work with Oracle’s Application Programming
Interfaces (APIs) for core management functions such as discovery,
provisioning, configuration, monitoring and compliance.  And its Validated Integration program has
been updated to help enable partners to test and validate plug-ins and
connectors with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.

Oracle ISVs, system integrators and managed service
providers will be able to prove their proficiency in the new version of Enterprise
Manager through its updated OPN Knowledge Zones and Specializations in the
software. Additionally, Oracle added a new Application Quality Management
Specialization to prove knowledge in testing and staging applications before
deploying them in the cloud.

As a part of its release, Oracle announced that it worked in
advance with new OPN Diamond level partners, Accenture, Capgemini and CSC, to
help them build out new cloud-based offerings using Oracle Enterprise Manager
12c.

“We worked closely
with Oracle’s product management team during our solution development phase to
leverage the out of the box capabilities in Oracle Enterprise Manager
12c," said Sreedhar Kajeepeta, global vice president and chief technology
officer of the Technology Consulting Practice at CSC. "It reduced our need
to develop custom components.”
