Mission Cloud, a CDW company, recently launched a new offering on the AWS Marketplace. Mission CTO Jonathan LaCour spoke with Channel Insider about the new managed service and how it meets market demand for cloud operations support.

Cloud Operate offers fully managed cloud operations through Mission expertise

In early May the company announced its new managed services offering targeting operations management and advising for AWS cloud customers.

Mission Cloud says Cloud Operate streamlines incident response and boosts uptime not through another product or tooling but instead by leveraging the organizations’ expertise and service-driven solutions. The offering combines 24/7 human support with intelligent observability via New Relic One to keep orgnaizations secure and aware of their environments.

“I need coverage 24/7 365, and Mission’s cloud operations keep me functional so that I’m not getting calls at 2:00 AM, and my team isn’t panicking when something goes wrong right after close of business,” said Jon Goldman, CTO at Playbill, a Mission customer. “Mission has been such a good partner to us at Playbill. Having an AWS partner as strong as Mission is so important to your business.”

“It can be intimidating to assess and keep up with your operations from a technical standpoint,” said LaCour. “This has been on our minds because all of us on the team have built and deployed in the cloud before. Cloud Operate is a software-powered service offering that we’ve modernized and really built for the moment and time we’re all in.”

The Cloud Operate service offers customers:

  • Holistic monitoring across environments
  • Proactive issue identification
  • Routine AWS operational task execution
  • Expert New Relic integration
  • 24/7 incident response
  • Strategic AWS guidance

Cloud Operate is a SaaS product exclusively available through the AWS Marketplace, where eligible customers can also apply purchases toward their AWS Private Pricing Agreements (PPAs).

“Managing cloud environments efficiently requires a blend of advanced tools and expert operational assistance, especially as businesses scale,” said Ted Stuart, President and COO at Mission, in a statement. “With Cloud Operate, we’re offering a comprehensive solution that combines best-in-class observability with hands-on AWS expertise to ensure teams can focus on innovation, not just maintenance. And since it’s a SaaS product available exclusively through the AWS Marketplace, customers can use Cloud Operate to burn down their Private Pricing Agreement commitments.”

AWS marketplace availability and type of service connects to wider market demands

Cloud Operate and its exclusivity to the AWS Marketplace address several needs Mission Cloud sees in market, according to LaCour.

The availability of this service offering as a standalone solution on the marketplace also opens doors for Mission to strengthen existing customer relationships and build new opportunities. LaCour notes in particular that the team is still working to identify ways it can support longstanding CDW customers following CDW’s acquisition of Mission last year.

“The marketplace is growing in popularity for a lot of reasons, but primarily because it makes procuring so much easier for customers,” LaCour said. “Simple billing, one invoice across everything, those are boring, but important, things to people who need to care about them.”

“We’re also in a position that not many others are in, in that we have a huge opportunity to go to clients who worked with CDW for a long time, and show them how we can help them, through Cloud Operate and our other services,” LaCour continued. “We are very, very focused on AWS, and that expertise allows us to offer a breadth of services to AWS customers.”
