The ASCII Group, a collaborative community of solution and service
providers, announced this week the promotion of Jerry Koutavas to president.
Koutavas has served as the organization’s vice president of business
development for more than a decade and has been a driving force behind ASCII’s
annual Success Summits series—local and regional training and networking events
for ASCII members and solution providers.
As president, Koutavas will oversee the development of ASCII’s managed
services and next-generation VAR communities,
developing strategic partnerships and marketing.
“Our members drive who we are and what we do,” said Koutavas. “We will
continue to stand up for our members and provide them the necessary tools and
services to grow.”
"Jerry has been, for over 13 years, involved in almost all our
important initiatives for our solution provider members and has always put the
solution providers’ interests first in all strategic decisions," said Alan
Weinberger, ASCII’s chairman and CEO.
Most recently, Koutavas has been overseeing the development of a solution
provider locator service, IT Locator. Channel Insider and Ziff Davis Enterprise
are partners in the service that will connect more than 13 million end users
with local and regional solution providers.
“Over the years, Jerry has delivered many times over, strategic programs
that have helped me increase revenue and build a better business practice,”
said, Jay Tipton, owner of Technology Specialists. “He understands the reseller
market and clearly the pain points I have in terms of selling and marketing
technology to the SMB market.”
