Data security provider Forcepoint recently announced its acquisition of Getvisibility, an AI-powered Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) and Data Detection and Response (DDR) platform.

Deal expands full-lifecycle security play

This acquisition will expand Forcepoint’s delivery of full-lifecycle security across hybrid environments, cloud platforms, and GenAI ecosystems from discovery and classification to real-time risk mitigation.

“Data moves fast– so does risk,” said Forcepoint CEO Ryan Windham. “By bringing together Getvisibility fully into the Forcepoint family, we’re making it possible to see risk as it happens and stop it before it spreads. We build modern DLP– and now, together with Getvisibility, we’re building out AI Mesh and risk insights to understand, adapt, and secure data before it’s lost or misused– while helping our customers embrace innovation with confidence.”

Prior to the acquisition, Forcepoint and Getvisibility had already partnered for over two years to collaborate on DSPM and DDR capabilities for customers. Through the acquisition, the two will provide deeper integration and enable MSSPs, channel partners, enterprises, and government agencies to leverage AI for preventing data loss, achieving compliance goals, and mitigating cyber risk without adding operational complexity.

The acquisition will involve co-founder and CEO of Getvisibility Mark Brosnan joining Forcepoint as the Global Engineering Lead for DSPM, while co-founder Ronan Murphy will join as the Chief Data Strategy Officer.

Getvisibility AI Mesh

AI Mesh through Getvisibility offers accuracy and context in data discovery, classification, and risk-based prioritization and mitigation via an interconnected network of fine-tuned, task-specific AI models.

Getvisibility’s AI-driven DSPM and DDR capabilities will serve as a foundational layer within Forcepoint’s Data Security Everywhere architecture due to this acquisition. This combination will provide customers with a unified solution for:

  • Continuously discovering and classifying sensitive data across SaaS, GenAI, cloud, on-prem, and email environments.
  • Instant detection of risk behavior and enforcement of policies before data loss occurs, which doesn’t slow innovation.
  • Dynamically adapting to protect sensitive information shared through email, networks, and endpoints, including BYOD, and web, SaaS, and GenAI tools, including ChatGPT Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini.

“Our mandate has always been simple: help customers secure their data,” said Brosnan. “Joining Forcepoint allows us to take that mission further and faster– bringing real-time risk visibility and automated protection to organizations operating in the most complex and high-stakes environments.”

Utilizing AI to drive security has been a growing trend in the industry and is driving acquisitions and partnerships. Read more about another collaboration from the past few months that will build a unified cyber-physical platform.
