48% more security technologies are deployed in the cloud than on premises. On average, security services were deployed 1.5 times more often in the cloud than in the data center.
Superior Tech
55% of respondents said the cloud uses better technology compared to on premises, and 56% said security technology is more consistently applied in the cloud.
Cloud Support
Customers need more help from their cloud providers for integrating security technology (52%), improving security reporting (49%) and improving security analytics (44%).
Bad Practice
47% of security personnel said they “simply trust” their cloud providers are delivering on security agreements without further verification.
Vendor Selection
Security/compliance features (15%) now top the list of priorities when selecting a cloud provider, followed by performance/elasticity (13%), reliability/service-level agreements (11%), cost (9%) and management tools (9%).
Top Challenges
The top challenges that organizations need their cloud providers to address better were security-related. This includes integrating security technology (19%), providing security reporting (18%) and leveraging security analytics (16%).
Top Cloud Deployed Security Technologies
Top security deployments include virtual firewall (82%), multifactor authentication (81%), intrusion detection/protection (80%), compliance certification and attestations (79%), and on-demand security reporting (79%).
More Services48% of respondents using cloud security services were evaluating more services to further increase security.
Premium Services
Cloud customers are willing to pay more for services such as VM encryption, on-demand compliance reporting, role-based access control, advanced persistent threat/advanced targeted attack protection, and data-in-motion encryption.
Compliance-Related Workloads
96% of security pros acknowledge that their organizations have compliance-related workloads in the cloud, compared with only 69% of IT teams.
