Elimination of on-site infrastructure (64%) is the primary advantage of deploying software from the cloud, followed by faster deployments (48%), less administration (48%) and lower costs (36%).

37% are using management software deployed in the cloud to manage less than 10% of their systems. Meanwhile, 23% use this approach to manage 10% to 39% of their systems. But 26% said they never use this approach.

For the 70% of respondents who currently use on-premise software in their organizations, the biggest barriers to using a cloud-based software deployment model are a lack of technical experience (26%), not enough controls over software being deployed (25%) and cost (22%).

While 14% said they’ll never switch to software deployment in the cloud, respondents were generally evenly split regarding security. Just over half (51%) said they believe cloud-based software deployment did not pose a security risk.

When it comes to Windows 10, 30% of respondents plan to use the cloud to migrate endpoints from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10.

More than half (58%) said software deployment through the cloud would make their jobs easier.
