expess truck image 3.jpgInterested in desktop virtualization and thin-client technology, but just feel like you need to see it work before you’re ready to look into it further? Well, the VMware Express is for you.

The 18-wheeler truck will be rolling on a U.S. tour this year and is likely coming to a town near you. Look inside: It’s equipped with computer equipment and a range of virtualization solutions from VMware.

“[It’s] focused on communicating the thin desktop version,” Ben Matheson, senior director of Global Partner Marketing at VMware, told me recently. The truck has a half-dozen or so different types of thin clients onboard, plus three different racks of server equipment.

The truck is scheduled to stop at 150 cities in North America, and it’s sponsored by AMD, Cisco, Dell, EMC, MDS Micro, NetApp and Xsigo.

The virtualization-curious can take a look at VMware View, VMware vSphere and VMware vCenter products at five demo workstations. The truck also includes a conference room for customers to talk about VMware solutions with technical experts.

Sadly, I could find no list of city visits and dates on the VMware Express site. But VMware is soliciting channel partners to host city visits. Information on how to get in touch is on the VMware Express site.
