Akamai has appointed Louis Tague as regional vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand, tasking the longtime enterprise technology executive with accelerating regional growth and strengthening customer and partner relationships across ANZ.

Tague, who brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across companies including CrowdStrike, Google Cloud Security, Mandiant/FireEye, and Veritas, joins as Akamai expands its security, AI, and cloud business in the region. He will report to Sean Li, senior vice president and managing director for Asia Pacific.

For Akamai’s channel partners, the appointment puts partner engagement directly within Tague’s growth mandate. The company said he will focus on strengthening customer and partner relationships as Akamai looks to expand its security, AI, and cloud business across Australia and New Zealand.

As the cybersecurity and cloud computing company expands its capabilities across security, AI, and cloud, it sees Tague helping customers bring these technologies together and apply them to their business needs.

“I am excited to join Akamai and work with the team across ANZ,” said Tague.

“Akamai has strong customer relationships and a broad set of security, AI and cloud capabilities. I look forward to learning more from our employees, customers and partners to understand where we can help most and make it easier for customers to put the full value of Akamai to work,” he continued.

He is also noted as having deep knowledge of the local market and extensive relationships across enterprise, financial services, and government.

Following the announcement, Akamai emphasized the importance of ANZ as one of its most developed markets, citing its decades-long customer relationships in the region.

The appointment also comes after Akamai surpassed $1 billion in annual revenue across APAC in 2025, as the company sharpens its regional focus on supporting AI deployment closer to end users.

In this vein, the company sees dedicated local leadership, including Tague’s appointment, as helping Akamai maintain its focus on customers and capture opportunities across ANZ.

“The region is an important market for Akamai, and our customers need a leader who understands both the local environment and the pressures they face,” said Sean Li, senior vice president and managing director of APAC at Akamai.

“Louis knows this market well and has built strong teams and grown enterprise technology businesses in both markets. I am confident he will build on the foundation already in place and bring our teams, customers and partners even closer together.”

Akamai was recently selected as a strategic security partner for World Wide Technology’s (WWT) ARMOR framework, helping enterprises secure AI infrastructure built by WWT and accelerated by NVIDIA. Revisit the announcement to learn more.
