SolarWinds, a provider of simple, powerful, secure observability and IT management software, has recently launched the SolarWinds AI Agent and a range of expanded AI features to accelerate the transition to autonomous operational resilience.

New solutions promise to fill gaps in security needs

The new AI Agent bridges the resilience gap by giving IT teams an intelligent, context-aware system that predicts issues, automates responses, and reduces cognitive burden.

“For the past year, we’ve focused on operational resilience– the ability to protect, maintain, and quickly recover systems even during disruptions,” said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, president and CEO, SolarWinds. “With the AI Agents and expanded capabilities, we’re taking the next step: helping customers achieve autonomous operational resilience, where it runs smarter, faster, and more securely with minimal manual intervention.”

The agent is built on AI by Design principles and expands SolarWinds’ Secure by Design framework into the AI era.

The offering delivers conversational, agentic AI to daily operations to enhance detection, diagnostics, and remediation.

The AI Agent function

The new agent acts as a teammate in observability, incident response, and service management.

“The SolarWinds AI Agent is more than a feature– it’s a foundation for a new way of working,” said Krishna Sai, chief technology officer, SolarWinds. “By embedding intelligent, context-aware AI into IT workflows, we’re helping teams move beyond reactive firefighting to proactive innovation.”

The SolarWinds AI enables IT professionals to do the following:

  • Resolve incidents faster: The agent automatically summarizes outages, gathers diagnostics, identifies probable root causes, and suggests remediation steps.
  • Use natural language: It asks questions about system health, compares metrics, acquires recommendations, and launches multi-step workflows with plain-language commands.
  • Simplify observability management: Configures and manages SolarWinds Observability directly through the agentic interface.

New expanded AI capabilities

In addition to the SolarWinds AI Agent, the company introduced new AI-powered features, including:

  • Root Cause Assist: A capability that cuts troubleshooting time by generating clear root-cause analyses based on alerts and anomalies. It is generally available now.
  • Dynamic Threshold Enhancements: Extends automated thresholding to additional metrics, decreasing noise and false positives.
  • AI Query Assist: Enhances database performance by analyzing query patterns and proposing faster, more efficient rewrites.

The company is looking to add more features in 2026. Among those new features will include:

  • SolarWinds AI Incident Correlation for Service Desk: Automatically identifies groups of related incidents and recommends opening a problem management workflow to address the root cause.
  • SolarWinds AI Knowledge Base Generation for Service Desk: Utilizes GenAI to produce new knowledge base articles on the most commonly solved incidents, expanding customers’ centralized knowledge repository and offering more self-service options for employees.
  • Automated Runbook Execution: Allows teams to automatically execute predefined standard operating procedure steps as part of first-touch response, diagnostics gathering, or suggested fixes before a human intervenes.

“Every IT leader is under pressure to do more with less, but outages and complexity continue to slow teams down,” said Ramakrishna. “With the SolarWinds AI Agent, we are reducing the mean time to detect and resolve issues by putting automation, observability, visualization, and remediation into a single, intelligent cycle. The result is stronger resilience, greater productivity, and more time for teams to focus on innovation.”

With the increase in agentic AI adoption, securing this adoption has become fundamental to the channel and public sector. Read more about Zenity’s expansion into the public sector to secure AI agent adoption.
