Exterro, a unified data risk management organization, recently unveiled its Exterro Assist for Data capability on the Exterro Intelligence platform, designed to deliver more secure, reliable, actionable, and accurate results.

Exterro Intelligence brings agentic AI to data risk management

The latest generation of Exterro Intelligence is now available, featuring the Exterro Assist for Data capability. The agentic approach to Exterro Intelligence will eventually be applied across the Exterro data risk management platform, including its legal hold, digital forensics and incident response, and data privacy and governance products.

“The initial go around is focused around the e-discovery side, and then as we go throughout the year, we’ll expand that across the entire Exterro risk platform,” Senior Director for North American Channels, Bruce Holbert, told Channel Insider.

By the end of 2025, Exterro says over 15 agents will handle tasks across privacy, governance, and forensics

Exterro is rapidly scaling its AI agents to cover privacy, governance, and forensics tasks, aiming to transform risk management workflows.

Exterro Assist for Data currently has eight fully deployed agents. By the end of the year, the Exterro Intelligence platform will support over 15 agents in data privacy, governance, and digital forensics investigations.

Among the benefits of delivering Exterro Intelligence via its Exterro Assist for Data includes:

  • Cost savings: Customers can receive unlimited Q&A, as well as their first matter with topic classification included (up to 250GB). This ensures initial projects can be completed without incremental cost, saving tens of thousands of dollars compared to vendors who charge unpredictable, escalating fees.
    • Additional throughput and storage can be purchased as needed, giving customers complete transparency and predictability in pricing.
  • Speed and efficiency: Actionable intelligence is achieved faster; Exterro Intelligence processes and classifies 40,000 documents per hour; Exterro Assist for Data can pre-process 100,000 documents per hour for queries; and domain-specific Exterro expert agents can complete tasks in seconds instead of hours, accelerating workflows up to 400 times.
  • Security and control: Through a “human in the loop” approach, Exterro allows customers to maintain control of their data and queries. Further, data is not transferred, stored, or processed by third-party LLM vendors.
    • Meanwhile, GDPR, SOC 2, FedRAMP, and HIPAA certifications ensure the platform meets the highest compliance standards.
  • Full transparency and trust: All results include clear source references and explainability, and every insight is traceable, explainable, and immediately usable.

“Exterro Intelligence– as we go down the agentic AI route– what we find is a couple of things. One is how do we address security and how do we address privacy?” Holbert said. “By having nothing be transmitted. We don’t train on any of our client data and we’ve been testing it with customers as part of that process. What we’ve seen is the benefit is massive. Our ability to review a million documents in under 30 days– reducing by almost 400 percent in terms of that review process.”

The Exterro Intelligence platform will enable partners to build long-term success, deliver better outcomes for clients, increase their flexibility, and gain competitive insight.

The channel angle: partners need increased flexibility to support customers’ risk management

For channel partners, it’s all about generating the best outcome for their customers, winning more deals against competitors, and increasing their flexibility to their end customers.

“Every partner that we’ve briefed around what we’re doing around the platform, not just e-discovery, but across the board– we haven’t had many partners that push away from the table and go ‘no, I’m out,’” said Holbert. “Some partners were involved in the beta test that we did with some of these customers, and they see that as a game changer of how they can go to market and really talk about ROI true spend.”

Exterro Intelligence deploys true agentic AI to enable professionals to utilize domain-specific, autonomous expert agents, helping them manage and execute legal, privacy, and security workflows with speed, precision, and traceability.

Unlike competitor AI tools that leverage OpenAI, Exterro Assist for Data eliminates the need to transfer data between disconnected tools or rely on third-party LLMs.

Looking ahead: AI-driven resilience in e-discovery

According to Exterro, mobile data now drives 75% of e-discovery cases as U.S. state privacy laws increasingly regulate how companies manage digital information. With its agentic AI capabilities, Exterro positions partners and enterprises to address these challenges, enabling greater resilience, compliance, and long-term success in data risk management.
