Bitdefender, a cybersecurity-focused organization, has launched a new program to enable European Union (EU) sovereignty and regulatory compliance.

European data hosting and security solution includes contract buyout

The new program empowers European organizations to transition to a fully European cybersecurity and data hosting solution, ensuring that customer and configuration data, security events, telemetry, and information gathered for customer support are never accessible, transferred, or processed outside the EU, without compromising cybersecurity.

The Sovereignty Acceleration Program includes a commercial contract buyout to accelerate adoption, with additional incentives for qualified organizations seeking to migrate from non-EU cybersecurity providers.

According to the Europe-based cybersecurity company, many vendors point to EU data center presence as proof of compliance while their platforms remain subject to non-EU legal jurisdiction, with ownership, supply chains, and operational control outside of European hands.

Sovereign infrastructure demand grow across Europe

The new program aims to combine Bitdefender’s cybersecurity capabilities with sovereign European cloud infrastructure.

Key program benefits include:

  • A path to sovereign cybersecurity: Organizations gain a European alternative to non-EU cybersecurity providers. A network of certified European cloud partnerships allows businesses to transition quickly to a full-stack cybersecurity ecosystem that delivers enterprise-grade prevention, detection, and response, with expert-led security operations, where security data, telemetry, and operational workflows remain entirely under EU jurisdiction while maintaining business continuity.
  • Meeting EU compliance requirements: The program is designed for EU organizations of all sizes operating under strict data residency or sovereignty mandates, including public sector, financial services, healthcare, education, critical infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing organizations. The program supports compliance with GDPR, NIS2, DORA, and other in-country and sector-specific regulations.
  • Easy migration with commercial incentives: Bitdefender offers qualified organizations a contract buyout program that removes financial barriers and streamlines the path to a fully sovereign cybersecurity solution. It will guide organizations through each step of the migration to ensure a smooth move with minimal disruption to operations.

“Not all data sovereignty claims are equal. Most cybersecurity vendors rely on EU data center presence alone while leaving jurisdiction, operational control, and supply chain outside European hands,” said Andrei Florescu, president and general manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group.

“The Bitdefender Sovereign Acceleration Program gives European organizations a clear, practical framework for cybersecurity that is both effective and sovereign, where the data, the infrastructure, the cybersecurity platform, and the expertise all remain within EU control, and where compliance and proactive risk management are built in, not bolted on.”

Bitdefender GravityZone unites endpoint protection and response

The Bitdefender GravityZone platform aims to deliver advanced endpoint protection (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR), and cloud-native security across the entire attack chain.

The platform leads independent cybersecurity evaluations – such as AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives – to ensure sovereign cybersecurity does not compromise on effectiveness.

“True sovereignty requires secure infrastructure, proven cybersecurity, and confidence that critical technologies, data, and operations remain governed by European legal frameworks,” said Julien Levrard, CISO, OVHcloud.

“By combining OVHcloud’s sovereign cloud infrastructure with Bitdefender’s technology and cybersecurity expertise, we help organizations across Europe strengthen cyber resilience while maintaining greater control over their data, operations, and digital future.”
