Tech Data has added a printing solutions business unit and realigned several of its other divisions, the IT technology distributor announced Feb. 12.

The Clearwater, Fla., company added the printing solutions division—called a “Specialized Business Unit” (SBU)—to create a total of eight such business units.

The new Printing Solutions SBU combines printers, manufacturer service agreements, warranties and supplies expertise. The unit will focus on helping resellers increase attach rates for printer sales with consumables such as ink and toner, maintenance services, and other higher-margin add-ons.

Tech Data also announced that several of its SBUs have been integrated into Tech Data product marketing divisions. The AIDC/RFID and Physical Security SBUs are now part of the distributor’s Networking Division, which also encompasses the Telephony SBU.

The Components SBU has joined the AppleAdvantage SBU as part of Tech Data’s Client Systems Division.

The Pro A/V SBU has been added to Tech Data’s Peripherals Division, which supports Tech Data’s oldest and newest SBUs: Document Imaging and Printing Solutions. The Pro A/V SBU supports a wide range of digital signage installations, and it can now more easily leverage the division’s extensive business partner relationships to develop more display-centric solutions, Tech Data said, in a statement.
