PolyServe is suited for organizations that rely on SQL and Oracle database servers for continuous access to critical information such as customer or patient records, Tech Data said in a statement.

The technology enables servers to simultaneously access a consolidated pool of shared storage, allowing all applications, middleware, servers and storage to be managed as a single, virtual system.

PolyServe said that the technology can also offer cost savings by cutting server and software installs by half and cutting configuration and management time by as much as 75 percent.

PolyServe also said that total cost of ownership of these systems can be reduced by more than 50 percent.

“As industry-standard servers and storage continue to replace traditional Unix technologies in the data center, VARs will play a critical role in delivering those solutions,” said Clark Newby, vice president of marketing for PolyServe, in a statement.
