Salesforce is set to increase prices across several of its major product lines starting August 1, citing continued investment in AI and product development. The company says the change reflects “the significant ongoing innovation and customer value delivered through our products.”

Slack and core products affected

The upcoming changes include a 6% average price increase for the Enterprise and Unlimited editions of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Field Service, and select Industry Clouds. Slack, which Salesforce owns, will also see pricing updates. The Business+ plan is moving from $12.50 to $15 per user per month for annual billing, and from $15 to $18 for monthly billing. Plans like Salesforce Foundations, Starter, and Pro editions will remain unchanged.

The company last raised prices in 2023, after maintaining price stability for seven years.

AI drives a shift in software pricing

Salesforce isn’t the only one rethinking how it prices software. The rise of AI has thrown traditional pricing models into disarray, and companies across the board are adjusting accordingly. Some are rolling out more flexible, pay-as-you-go options. Others are raising base prices to reflect the added capabilities AI brings to the table.

Adobe is a prime example. As it’s developed its suite of generative AI tools, it’s introduced several price increases in recent years, framing them as part of a broader shift toward more powerful, AI-enhanced platforms.

Salesforce is following a similar trajectory. Its AI platform, Agentforce, is designed to handle complex tasks like customer support with minimal or no human intervention.

“Agentforce brings digital labor to every employee, department, and business process to augment employees and improve customer experiences,” says Salesforce. “Agentforce works with your existing apps, data, and business logic and can take action across your entire enterprise. And it’s built on the trusted Salesforce platform, so your data always stays safe.”

And back in May, Salesforce introduced a new payment model that gives customers the option to shift spending away from traditional software licenses and toward its growing lineup of AI-powered tools.

As AI becomes more central to how business software works, Salesforce’s pricing changes reflect a broader recalibration happening across the tech industry—one that’s still very much in motion.

Just a year ago, predictions about generative AI were still full of “what ifs.” From shifting software pricing models to new ways of working, 2025 is emerging as less about distant speculation and more about rapid, tangible change. Let’s look back at the early forecasts to see how quickly the AI landscape is taking shape—and how much of it is already here.
