Private data network company Kiteworks has announced a strategic partnership with data security posture management (DSPM) provider Concentric AI to deliver comprehensive data security governance capabilities for enterprises, including stronger controls for securing data in motion.

Maintaining control when sharing data with partners

According to Kiteworks, the collaboration addresses the need for organizations to ensure strong security when sharing data outside the enterprise, whether through file sharing, managed file transfer, SFTP, email, data forms, or APIs.

“Organizations invest in DSPM to understand their sensitive data, but protecting this data requires comprehensive security data governance,” said David Byrnes, vice president of global channels at Kiteworks.

“Kiteworks transforms Concentric AI data risk insights into automated protection that follows data wherever it travels. Together with Concentric AI, we’re helping customers achieve continuous data protection—from discovery through secure external collaboration,” he continued.

The partnership combines Kiteworks’ advanced security capabilities and automated policy enforcement with Concentric AI’s context-based discovery, classification, and data risk insights. The goal is to apply appropriate layers of protection to sensitive data records.

Dhruv Jain, vice president of product at Concentric AI, emphasized the importance of retaining control of data, particularly as data moves between external parties.

“Enterprises struggle not just with discovering sensitive data, but also with maintaining control when that data needs to be shared with partners, customers, or vendors,” Jain said.

“Our end-to-end data security governance capabilities combined with Kiteworks’ automated enforcement capabilities help ensure that data classifications drive real-world protection,” Jain added.

Automatic policy enforcement upon sharing

As part of the partnership, the Kiteworks Private Data Network can consume Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) labels applied by the Concentric AI platform.

Organizations can then use those labels to create and automatically enforce policies when sharing data externally, such as restricting copying or downloading and setting time limits on recipient access.

According to Kiteworks, this approach helps organizations maximize their data security investments by ensuring that data discovery and risk insights translate into automated, real-world protection.

When Concentric AI classifies data as “Confidential” or applies compliance labels such as “HIPAA” or “GDPR,” Kiteworks can automatically enforce corresponding controls when that data is shared externally.

These controls include encryption, access restrictions, watermarking, and possessionless editing.

Kiteworks and Concentric AI said they plan to jointly engage customers through field events, enablement programs, and industry-specific initiatives aimed at regulated sectors such as healthcare, financial services, energy, and government.

Last year, Concentric AI added key integrations, including Wiz and GitHub, to its data governance platform. Learn more about how these expanded partnerships broaden the platform’s capabilities.
