Ingram Micro and VMware have expanded their relationship enabling the distribution giant to provide a VMware Service Provider Program Aggregator offering to channel partners.

Through the deal, channel partners in the United States and Canada will now be able to access a pay-as-you-go licensing model for VMware, letting them pay for as many or as few licenses as necessary to provide virtualized IT services to their end customers.

“We are the only distributor in North America to provide the VSPP Aggregator service to resellers,” Jodi Honore, vice president, vendor management, Ingram Micro U.S., tells Channel Insider. “This is very cost effective for the reseller and very flexible.”

Honore adds that the market for this kind of offering is growing as desktops and data centers and cloud offerings all require virtualized back end infrastructures.

To support VSPP, Ingram Micro will provide service providers with a dedicated licensing desk, as well as targeted channel marketing and technical support teams. In addition, the distributor is providing access to a highly-skilled Virtualization Technical Support Help Desk and Market Development Specialist to assist with pre- and post-sales efforts, according to Ingram Micro.
