Hewlett-Packard has named an outsider to serve as its new director of volume distribution channels for the Solution Partners Organization in the Americas.
Gary Koopman, 52, brings more than 25 years of experience to his new role at the Palo Alto, Calif., computer systems and technology company, where he will oversee all sales, strategy and management of HP’s CSP (Channel Service Provider) distribution partners as well as HP source and distribution services. In this capacity he will focus on driving continued revenue growth through HP’s commercial distribution channel, the company said in a statement.
Koopman joins HP from Pillar Data Systems, where he led the channel reseller organization for North Americaa role where he developed strong relationships with HP distribution partners such as Synnex, Tech Data, Ingram and Bell Micro, the company said.

Prior to Pillar Data Systems, Koopman served as vice president of sales for the Americas at Quantum. During his four years there, Koopman led the transition from direct to channel sales, bringing more than 100 new enterprise storage partners to the company.
