Another executive departure at a distribution company — this time Avnet. Fred Cuen, president of Avnet Technology Solutions Americas has left the building, according to a report at ChannelWeb. The move was “mutually agreed upon” and the company is actively searching for a replacement.

Cuen’s departure is effective immediately, Avnet said. John Paget, president of Avnet Technology Solutions on a global level will assume Cuen’s Americas responsibilities until a replacement is found.

Looking to expand its role-based identity management offerings, CA has struck a reseller agreement with software vendor Eurekify, eWeek reports. The deal calls for CA to resell Eurekify Enterprise Role Manager and provide support and services. The move gives CA a degree of parity with efforts by Sun Microsystems and Oracle to provide a comprehensive answer to enterprise identity management woes, according to analysts.

If you are all atwitter to read the latest outreach to the channel from Dell, the company is set to launch its new channel blog on Friday, according to Channel Marker.

Channel consultant Jeff Kaplan thinks that HP’s EDS acquisition, while targeting the data center, misses the real market opportunity that is out there. “The problem is that we are in the midst of a fundamental change in the way customers acquire technology and the way they perceive their vendors,” Kaplan of Think IT Services says in his blog. Kaplan says that corporations are looking for ways to leverage technology so they can be less dependent on traditional data centers. To read more, click here.
