Arrow has expanded its presence in Europe by announcing a definitive agreement to acquire Logix, a subsidiary of Groupe OPEN, headquartered in France.

Logix operates in the server and storage midmarket arena in over 11 countries in Europe with annual gross revenues of approximately 500 million euros. Arrow will integrate Logix into its Enterprise Computing Solutions division and the move will almost double the distributor’s line card, according to company executives.

William E. Mitchell, chairman, president and CEO at Arrow, said in a statement: "We will gain an experienced management team and 350 highly talented sales, marketing and design professionals, while Logix will obtain access to increased financial and technical resources, and a more comprehensive suite of solutions for its reseller partners."

Europe and South Africa currently accounts for 29 percent of Arrow’s annual revenue and the distributor has been looking to expand in the region. In August last year the distributor announced its acquisition of UK-based distributor Centia, which the firm has added to its existing UK subsidiary, DNS, and Scandinavian-based AKS.

The Logix transaction is subject to customary European Union competition clearance.
