Nerdio recently announced new capabilities within its enterprise platform aimed at addressing the complex needs of on-premises, hybrid, and cloud organizations within the Microsoft ecosystem.

We spoke with co-founder and CRO Joseph Landes before the announcements about how Nerdio continues to strengthen its offerings and work with partners and end users worldwide.

New Azure Virtual Desktop offering supports range of on-premises hypervisors

One of Nerdio’s most significant announcements tied to Microsoft Ignite was its new Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) support across hybrid environments.

Key benefits include the ability for enterprise users to:

  • Deploy AVD in minutes, not weeks, with a streamlined, intuitive GUI instead of manual scripts.
  • Maintain consistent policies and user experiences across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Automate the entire virtual desktop lifecycle, from provisioning and scaling to image updates, with zero scripting required.
  • Access powerful dashboards and monitoring tools with near real-time visibility, performance intelligence, and financial insights across Azure Virtual Desktop.

“Nerdio is committed to helping our customers modernize their legacy VDI solutions at the pace that’s right for them,” said Vadim Vladimirskiy, Nerdio CEO and co-founder. “By joining Microsoft as an Azure Virtual Desktop hybrid partner, we will be extending the benefits of Nerdio Manager to a broader range of on-premises platforms, giving IT teams the flexibility to manage all their virtual desktops—cloud, on-premises, or both—through a single, automated platform. This is a major step forward for organizations that want to innovate without disruption.”

“With Azure Virtual Desktop for hybrid environments, Microsoft is expanding the reach of Azure Virtual Desktop to meet customers where they are,” said Scott Manchester, vice president of product for Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop at Microsoft. “Partners such as Nerdio play an essential role in helping enterprises bridge on-premises and cloud environments with the simplicity, automation, and flexibility IT teams need to succeed.”

Landes told Channel Insider that customers have been asking Nerdio for capabilities like these for a while, identifying pain points in migrating from legacy on-prem providers into the Microsoft cloud-based ecosystem.

While this announcement is geared towards enterprise users of Nerdio’s platform, the company has also invested in supporting channel partners closing deals of their own across AVD and Windows 365 opportunities.

“We see AVD and Windows 365 as the better delivery model for experiences that all customers are used to,” Nerdio VP of MSP Sales Will Ominsky told Channel Insider in May. “Everyone is familiar with the concept of a desktop, so what partners need to understand and relay to customers is that the experience doesn’t change; they are just now delivering desktops from the cloud.”

How Nerdio continues to expand support for partners and customers across Microsoft solutions

The announcements follow a year’s worth of focus on emerging opportunities within the Microsoft ecosystem for partners and customers seeking modernization across their tech stacks.

Landes says Nerdio continue to focus on what its partners and customers say are the most significant pain points impacting their businesses, and build a roadmap of features and solutions based on addressing those needs.

“We always try to stick to one of our core values, which is to be an ‘outside-in company,’ meaning our partner and customer feedback is really important,” Landes said. “If you always start with your customers, that will give you the truth on where to go.”

As a longtime Microsoft partner and a tech company focused entirely on supporting Microsoft users, Nerdio also needs to stay close to what the tech giant is building on their side of the fence.

“We have a really good sense of what they’re building and what we can do to complement that vision,” he added.

Strong 2025 gives Nerdio momentum heading into 2026

We’ve covered Nerdio extensively this year as the company continues to grow its business supporting channel partners and enterprise end users through its dual offering.

In April, we covered the latest version release of Nerdio Manager for MSP (NMM), unveiled during the company’s annual NerdioCon event in Palm Springs in April. Nerdio also accepted a Series C funding investment in 2025 and continued to target new opportunities in enablement and support for Microsoft channel partners navigating AI and security demand.

To Landes, the growth Nerdio has experienced since its founding seven years ago is directly tied to the continuous learning and experimentation the company facilitates amongst its team.

“I don’t think that you can really do much without investing in your people. The challenge for us will be to learn from things that didn’t go as well and continuing to give our people the belief and trust to try things and then move on if they don’t work,” Landes said.
