Getting a software product into a cloud marketplace is one step. Turning that listing into repeatable sales is another.
Microsoft announced the availability of Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace on September 28. The program gives eligible software companies a staged path to publish B2B products, including AI apps and agents, generate Marketplace transactions, and pursue additional go-to-market support. It is aimed at partners selling repeatable software products, rather than firms delivering one-off services.
For MSPs and resellers, the question is whether those software publishers will seek channel partners to help sell, deploy, and support their products. Microsoft Marketplace already supports multiparty offers that bring publishers and channel partners together on deals.
How the three stages work
Frontier Accelerate brings partner resources into one progression: Build & Publish, Grow, and Differentiate. The first stage helps partners prepare a solution for publication and transactions. The second focuses on generating Marketplace sales and demand. The third provides opportunities tied to established performance, including closer engagement with Microsoft sellers and potential eligibility for a certified software designation. Benefits depend on the applicable requirements and milestones; publishing an offer alone does not unlock them all.
The program extends Microsoft’s broader push to turn AI adoption into partner revenue. It gives software publishers a clearer route from a finished product to one customers can purchase through Marketplace.
What partners get from the free and paid options
Eligible software partners can enter a no-cost experience with self-service guidance, skilling, listing support, and benefits that become available as they meet Marketplace milestones. A paid Premium option adds technical consultations, a named engagement manager, development resources, and further marketing support. Microsoft lists up to $30,000 in Azure development and test credits for new Premium partners during the Build & Publish stage. That benefit is separate from milestone-based Azure sponsorship for customer trials and deployment.
To qualify, a company must be an active Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program member with a B2B solution designed for repeatable sales, built on a Microsoft Cloud platform, and intended for commercialization through Marketplace. Microsoft says existing ISV Success participants are automatically enrolled in Premium. Qualifying Marketplace Rewards users, Azure IP co-sell partners, and partners with certified software designations are enrolled in the no-cost option. Other eligible companies can review the requirements and enroll through the Partner Center.
What the launch means for channel partners
For software publishers, the first decision is whether their product meets Microsoft’s eligibility rules and whether the additional Premium support is worth its fee. They should map the milestones for Marketplace transactions, co-sell participation, and designation before counting on those benefits.
For MSPs and resellers, the question is which publishers want a channel route to customers. Before this rollout, Optimize365 joined Microsoft Marketplace with a security platform built for MSPs, illustrating how a software publisher can position a product for channel buyers. That Marketplace listing does not establish whether Optimize365 participates in Frontier Accelerate.
Solution providers assessing Marketplace offers can look beyond the transaction to implementation, integration, security, governance, and ongoing support. Frontier Accelerate may help more software reach the Marketplace, but joining the program does not by itself establish a reseller agreement or guarantee services revenue.
