CustomerXR, an innovative Extended Reality (XR) company, is introducing its virtual reality for business applications to the indirect channel for the first time.

This showcase of virtual and augmented reality applications is available in the Meta Quest Store and is developed for Bath Fitter, Kitchen Saver, Egress Pros, Meineke, and others.

Job training for new employees gets a virtual reality boost

CustomerXR’s focus is on applications that train employees before they begin their new jobs. CustomerXR’s VR showcase includes apps developed for fast-casual restaurants to train staff efficiently.

“One of my valid criticisms of the channel is that it tends to follow trends too often. We tend to wait for new technologies to emerge, and then we flood the zone,” said Kevin Sheehan, co-founder, president, and chief XR officer at CustomerXR.

“That’s certainly happening with AI right now. This is an opportunity for the channel to get in on the ground floor of something special,” he continued.

Partner model similar to the unified communications approach

The company’s XR sales model works similarly to unified communications, starting with an upfront cost for application development, and then channel partners license the headsets.

The headsets are monitored and kept secure with frequent software updates – similar to a hosted phone provider.

“Once you put a potential customer in a headset, they realize VR isn’t just for gaming. They get to see these business use cases,” said Christopher Fonte, chief technical officer, CustomerXR.

“It opens up what I call their VR third eye. They consider the ways that they can use the technology, and their mind starts racing. Once they’re at that stage, it’s an easy sell because they see the value in it.”

Early customers see benefit in adding capabilities through channel partners

CustomerXR already features a number of unique customers, having recently debuted the Innisfree Garden tour, a proof-of-concept application that marks the company’s entry into immersive tourism. It offers users a 360-degree view of a botanical garden in Upstate New York.

This tour is available for both the Meta Quest and the Apple Vision Pro headsets.

“There are always going to be 10 percent or 15 percent of clients who are forward-thinking enough to jump in first,” said Sheehan. “The channel is a great way of reaching those clients because partners have those connections.”

CustomerXR at a year old

In late March 2025, CustomerXR launched with a goal of building custom virtual and augmented reality solutions to help major U.S. brands leverage XR and the Metaverse to connect with customers.

CustomerXR is an approved independent software vendor (ISV) for Meta and an approved development partner for Apple.

“With over 22 million active VR headsets in use globally, many organizations are now looking to utilize the massive impact of Virtual and Augmented Reality applications via the Meta and Apple platforms, but do not know where to begin,” Sheehan said at the time.

“What CustomerXR is hoping to become is that single source for starting that journey. By having a team of developers in-house to build low-cost proof of concept applications and then the strategic partnerships with the most talented developers around the country, we can build any XR idea as an enterprise-grade application.”
