WatchGuard Technologies, a provider of unified cybersecurity, recently announced the appointment of Joe Smolarski as its new CEO.
Interim president Srivatsan transitions to board of directors
Smolarski comes over from Kaseya, a global provider of IT management solutions, where he served as President since 2023, and as their COO from 2018 to 2022.
Vats Srivatsan, who has been interim CEO since May 2025, will continue to serve on WatchGuard’s board of directors.

Kaseya vet brings decades of experience to new role at WatchGuard
Smolarski has over 25 years of leadership experience across technology, operations, and strategy. While at Kaseya, he helped drive growth by uniting teams, technologies, and partners around a single, customer-first platform. He’ll now work closely with WatchGuard’s executive leadership team and Board to drive strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and global partner success.
