September brought a wave of leadership changes across the IT channel, with new CEOs, channel chiefs and senior executives taking roles across cybersecurity, AI, cloud and managed services. Among the month’s most notable moves, Apple named John Ternus CEO, KnowBe4 appointed Kurt Mills as channel chief, while Proofpoint, TensorWave and Lightning AI expanded their executive teams.

The appointments reflect where technology vendors are putting leadership resources heading into Q4, including partner growth, AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, revenue expansion and go-to-market execution. Channel Insider has rounded up the most consequential executive hires, promotions and transitions announced in September.

Technology companies expand executive leadership teams

Proofpoint makes two executive leadership appointments

Proofpoint has added two new members to its executive leadership team, tapping Brian Levy as Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and Puja Jaspal as Chief People Officer (CPO).

As CLO, Levy will lead Proofpoint’s legal organization, including legal affairs, corporate governance, compliance, ethics, and related strategic functions.

Levy brings more than 25 years of experience to the role, most recently serving as Chief Business Affairs & CLO at Upwork.

As CPO, Jaspal will lead Proofpoint’s global people organization, overseeing talent strategy, employee experience, organizational development, and total rewards. She brings more than 25 years of experience to the role, most recently serving as CPO at Fastly and holding senior leadership positions at Cisco, Visa, and Google.

Channelscaler has appointed Rachel Fernandes as SVP of Product and Jess Green as SVP of Sales

Channelscaler, a platform for partner ecosystems, has named Rachel Fernandes as Senior Vice President of Product and Jess Green as Senior Vice President of Sales.

Fernandes will lead Channelscaler’s product strategy and roadmap, bringing more than a decade of SaaS product leadership experience across revenue enablement, sales and marketing technology, analytics, and automation.

She most recently served as SVP of Product at TextUs, leading product management, UX design, and product marketing.

Green, meanwhile, will be tasked with leading the company’s global sales strategy and organization. Green previously served as CRO at Parabola and, before that, led go-to-market teams at Employ, Lever, Marketo, Parabola, and ToutApp.

“Partner ecosystems are becoming more strategic, more complex, and more important to how companies grow. That creates a significant opportunity for Channelscaler,” said Brian Martin, CEO, Channelscaler.

TensorWave makes 4 leadership appointments

TensorWave, an all-AMD AI cloud, is making four executive appointments, including Kathleen Simon being promoted to CFO, Aaron Baker being promoted to Chief Data Center Officer, and Shawn Novak and JP Buzzell joining as CRO and Executive Vice President (EVP) of Cluster Engineering and Delivery, respectively. 

Simon moves from EVP of Finance to CFO and will now lead long-term business strategy and oversee operational discipline. She previously served as Controller before moving to EVP of Finance & Accounting at Influential.

Baker moves from VP of AI Infrastructure into his new role and will lead strategy, budgeting, operations, and growth for TensorWave’s data centers, scaling them to meet business and AI demand.

Novak most recently served as EVP of Strategic Solutions at Switch. Prior to that, he held a leadership role within CBRE’s Data Center Solutions Group. As CRO, he will be charged with accelerating enterprise adoption, deepening customer relationships, and building the commercial strategy for the company’s next phase of growth.

Buzzell most recently served as VP and Data Center Chief Architect at Eaton and previously led data hall design for Oracle’s OCI Superclusters. At TensorWave, Buzzell will lead end-to-end cluster engineering and delivery from design through deployment.

Slide adds 2 to its C-suite

Slide, an MSP-focused disaster recovery organization, is adding Joshua Dion as CTO and Chris Henderson as CISO.

Slide recently crossed 100 full-time employees and surpassed 1,000 MSP partners since launching under two years ago.

“Once you get to a certain size, the ability to have a seasoned lion tamer making sure that all of these different priorities that we have to manage in our tech landscape are getting time allocated to them efficiently, that’s really important,” said Michael Fass, CEO, Slide.

Lightning AI adds to C-suite team

Lightning AI, a vertically integrated AI cloud company, has made three additions to its executive team, including Heather Paduck as CFO, Betty Junod as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), and Jarlath Doherty as Chief People Officer (CPO).

Paduck will lead the organization’s global financial strategy, bringing more than 25 years of financial leadership experience in data centers and real estate across hyperscaler and enterprise markets.

She previously served as CFO of STACK Infrastructure; Northwood Investors, a global real estate private equity firm; and Pembroke Real Estate, a Fidelity Investments subsidiary.

As CMO, Junod will be tasked with leading the company’s global marketing and communications organization, establishing category leadership, driving enterprise developer mindshare, and accelerating enterprise go-to-market and product-led growth.

Junod previously served as CMO and SVP of Heroku at Salesforce, and held marketing leadership roles at VMware Tanzu, Docker, and solo.io.

Doherty will lead the people organization across talent acquisition, development, total rewards, and workplace. His previous roles include CPO of Squarespace and Collibra, as well as global talent leadership roles at LinkedIn, Yahoo, and Deloitte.

Remedio names John Addeo Vice President of Channels, Brett Hayes VP of Customer Success

Remedio, an autonomous exposure remediation and AI posture management company, is appointing John Addeo as Vice President of Channels and Brett Hayes as Vice President of Customer Success.

Addeo brings more than 20 years of experience leading channels, alliances, and revenue teams across cybersecurity and enterprise technology, including HackerOne, Rapid7, Red Hat, and Dimension Data. He will be charged with building and scaling Remedio’s global channel and alliances program.

Hayes brings more than a decade of experience building and scaling customer success in cybersecurity, previously spending 11 years at Tenable. He will lead Remedio’s customer onboarding, adoption, and lifecycle success across the global enterprise base.

“We’ve experienced significant growth over the past year as more companies look to autonomously remediate risks across their environments,” said Tal Kollender, CEO, Remedio. “John has spent two decades turning partner programs into revenue engines in security. Brett brings the discipline of making sure every deployment delivers measurable risk reduction.”

Illumia names Sean Bruton as CISO, Don Smith as SVP & GM, higher education

Illumia recently announced that it would appoint Sean Bruton as CISO and Don Smith as senior vice president and general manager, higher education.

Bruton brings 25 years of experience in cybersecurity and compliance leadership. He will be tasked with leading Illumia’s information security strategy and overseeing security and compliance programs across the business.

“Sean has spent his career thinking about security from the customer’s perspective,” said Taran Lent, CTO, Illumia. “He brings a valuable combination of technical depth and customer insight, having built security tools, managed compliance programs through audits, and worked directly with organizations that depend on security services to support their own businesses.”

Bruton served as CTO at Zyston, an MSP, prior to joining Illumia.

Furthermore, Smith will work across product, technology, commercial, and customer teams to better connect Illumia’s products and expertise. He most recently led Illumia’s integrated payments business, overseeing product strategy and market expansion.

“Institutions expect their technology to work together, and not as a collection of separate products,” said Greg Brown, CEO, Illumia. “Don brings the product leadership, business experience, and deep understanding of this market to help us deliver on that expectation. His leadership will be important as we sharpen our strategy and position the business for its next phase of growth.”

Smith brings more than 15 years of experience across software and financial services.

Armadin appoints Frank Verdecanna as CFO, Michael Rogers as SVP, Strategic Partnerships & Alliances

Armadin, an AI-native cybersecurity company, has made a couple of executive appointments this month, tapping Frank Verdecanna as CFO and Michael Rogers as SVP, Strategic Partnerships & Alliances.

Verdecanna will lead the financial strategy, planning, and operations as Armadin scales its commercial platform and expands across the enterprise market. He brings more than 30 years of financial leadership experience in technology and cybersecurity, including 14 as a CFO.

He most recently served as Strategic Financial Advisor at Ballistic Ventures.

“Frank ran the finance organization at Mandiant through a decade of growth and an acquisition that tested every part of the business,” said Kevin Mandia, CEO, Armadin. “He built the discipline that let us scale without losing control, and that discipline is exactly what Armadin needs at this stage. There is no one I trust more to do this job.”

Rogers, meanwhile, joins the company following eight years at CrowdStrike and 28 years in cybersecurity. He will be charged with leading Armadin’s partner ecosystem strategy.

Algolia names Steven Chung as CRO, Veronica Servantez as CMO

Algolia, an AI search and retrieval platform, has appointed Steven Chung as CRO and Veronica Servantez as CMO.

Servantez will lead Algolia’s global marketing organization, focusing on establishing Retrieval Intelligence as the category analyst’s name and enterprise budget.

Servantez joins the company from Genesys, where he served as SVP of Product Marketing, leading the global go-to-market strategy across product marketing, content, thought leadership, and analyst relationships for the leading AI-powered experience orchestration platform.

“Every retailer, marketplace, and media company is putting agents into production – agents that shop the catalog, answer the customer, and cue up the next viewing – and most are stuck in the same place: the agent can reason, but it can’t be trusted with the pricing, the merchandising or the brand,” said Stephen Lynch, CEO, Algolia.

Chung joins from Starburst, where he was President leading worldwide go-to-market across sales, marketing, professional services, channels, partnerships, support, and revenue operations.

He will lead Algolia’s global revenue organization, focusing on scaling platform-level enterprise deals across the verticals where discovery drives revenue.

“Steven has taken four companies from strong product to durable business, twice through an exit,” said Lynch. “They are proven operators for exactly this moment: taking the intelligence layer we’ve already built to every enterprise that needs AI it can govern, trust, and measure.”

Nscale names Fidji Simo, Frank Slootman to Board of Directors; Adam Rosman as CLO

Nscale, a full-stack AI cloud platform, has made several new leadership appointments, adding Fidji Simo and Frank Slootman to the Board of Directors and Adam Rosman as Chief Legal Officer (CLO).

Rosman joins Nscale from Fiserv, where he served as Chief Legal and Administrative Officer. He brings more than 30 years of legal and operating experience across payments, financial services, and regulated industries.

Slootman currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Snowflake – where he was CEO from 2019 to 2024. Prior to that, he was CEO of Data Domain.

“We’re excited to welcome Frank and Adam to Nscale,” said Josh Payne, Founder and CEO of Nscale. “Frank built three companies into category leaders, took them public, and raised the standard of execution at every one, and Adam has spent his career guiding companies through transactions that shape industries. Simo most recently served as CEO, AGI Deployment at OpenAI and continues to serve as an advisor to the company. Prior to OpenAI, she was CEO and Chair of Instacart.

“Fidji is one of the most accomplished product leaders in tech, having built products used by billions of people around the world,” said Payne. “Fidji joins a board we’ve built deliberately, with the experience of scaling platforms to the largest in the world, and the independence, financial rigor, and operating depth to which companies at this scale are held.”

More channel hires and transitions

John Ternus takes over as Apple CEO

On Sept. 1, John Ternus stepped in as CEO, succeeding Tim Cook, who led the company for 15 years and will remain as executive chair.

Ternus first joined Apple’s product design team in 2001 and eventually became senior vice president of Hardware Engineering in 2021.

“It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be the CEO of Apple and to have been trusted to lead such an extraordinary company,” said Cook. “John Ternus has the mind of an engineer, the soul of an innovator, and the heart to lead with integrity and with honor. He is a visionary whose contributions to Apple over 25 years are already too numerous to count, and he is without question the right person to lead Apple into the future.”

KnowBe4 appoints Kurt Mills as Channel Chief

KnowBe4, a digital workforce security organization, has announced that Kurt Mills will take over as its channel chief.

The 25-year veteran previously held channel executive and leadership roles at Trellix, Check Point Software Technologies, Mimecast, FireMon, and Blue Coat Systems.

“Partner ecosystem growth is central to our mission, and Kurt’s appointment reflects our continued investment in that strategy,” said Bryan Palma, CEO of KnowBe4. “Kurt’s deep channel expertise, proven ability to scale high-performing teams, and track record of building long-term teams and strategic partner networks through IPOs, acquisitions, and rapid market expansion.”

Gigamon taps Grant Yacomeni as CISO

Gigamon, a leader in deep observability, has named Grant Yacomeni as chief information security officer (CISO). 

He will lead information and product security, cybersecurity, IT operations, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) to enhance the company’s security strategy while bringing a seasoned practitioner to customers navigating complex cyber environments.

“Grant has spent his career operating in some of the world’s most demanding cybersecurity environments,” said Gareth Maclachlan, COO, Gigamon. “His experience will be invaluable as we strengthen security across Gigamon and bring an even deeper practitioner perspective to our customers. As AI becomes increasingly embedded across hybrid cloud infrastructure, security, resilience, and business risk are becoming more interconnected.”

Maclachlan adds: “Grant is an outstanding addition to our leadership team at exactly the right time.”

Google vet Brian Kane joins OpenAI

OpenAI continues its string of Google Cloud Global Partner executive hires by adding Brian Kane as a Member of the go-to-market staff.

“Since Google’s inception, I have always admired its mission and the incredible products they build,” Kane wrote in a LinkedIn post. “Google also is ‘employee obsessed’ and takes care of Googlers like few other companies do.”

Earlier this year, OpenAI hired Philip Larson, another Google Cloud vet, as Senior Director, OpenAI Partner Network.

MongoDB announces CEO transition

MongoDB, an intelligent data platform, has announced that its President and CEO Chirantan “CJ” Desai will be stepping down as President and CEO of MongoDB. He will be pursuing a senior role at Meta Platforms, Inc.

Dev Ittycheria has been appointed by the Board as interim President and CEO. Ittycheria served as President and CEO of the company from 2014 to 2025.

“MongoDB’s business is strong, and there is no better person to take on the role of President and CEO in the interim than Dev Ittycheria,” said Tom Killalea, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “He knows this company deeply, has remained an involved and active executive board member over the past year, and will step in immediately to ensure a seamless transition.”

The Board has initiated a search to find the organization’s next permanent CEO.

“I was privileged to lead the company for more than a decade and help build MongoDB into the global business it is today,” said Ittycheria. “I know the company, our people, and our customers extremely well, and I have enormous confidence in the opportunity ahead.”

Aionix hires Nic Ferraro as Chief Growth Officer

Aionix, an AI optimization platform for MSPs, has named a former Pia executive as chief growth officer.

Ferraro will lead Aionix’s growth and commercial functions, including building its MSP partner program.

At Pia, Ferraro spent four years in leadership roles including chief operating officer, chief revenue officer, and chief growth officer. He also established the MSP channel program at Pia.

“Nic spent four years helping build Pia’s channel and partner programs, and he understands what MSPs need,” said David Schwartz, CEO, Pia. “As AI becomes core infrastructure, security, and token economics matter more for MSPs and their clients. That’s the problem Aionix is focused on, and we wish Nic well in the role.”

Backstory names Sam Branson as Head of Partnerships

Backstory, an AI platform for revenue teams, is appointing Sam Branson as Head of Partnerships.

Branson will be tasked with building a strategic partner ecosystem as a core growth engine in this newly created role. He will help define partnership strategy and strategic alliances.

“Sam has a track record of building partnerships that make a real difference for customers, whether that’s deepening our integrations with frontier model providers like Google and OpenAI or simplifying how enterprises procure AI tools, the way he did with AWS,” said jason Ambrose, CEO of Backstory.

Prior to joining Backstory, Branson spent four years at Adobe, helping build the company’s AI partnerships function. He was at Smartsheet before that, driving partnerships with AWS, Salesforce, and Microsoft.

“As more revenue teams look to us inside the AI workflows they already use, having someone of Sam’s caliber leading our partnerships strategy puts us in a strong position to grow faster and reach more of the sales teams who need us,” Ambrose said.

Okta appoints Sunil Kedaraji as VP, Channels and Strategic Alliances for APJ

Okta has named Sunil Kedaraji as Vice President, Channel and Strategic Alliances for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ).

Kedaraji will lead Okta’s partner business across APJ, boosting the company’s partner capability and creating greater scale across the region.

He also brings more than 24 years of experience in the technology industry, including senior partner and channel leadership roles in cybersecurity and identity.

“Partners are fundamental to how we grow across APJ and help customers address increasingly complex security and technology environments,” said Dan Mountstephen, Senior Vice President and General Manager, APJ at Okta.

“Sunil brings deep experience building and scaling partner ecosystems across the region, along with a strong understanding of identity and cybersecurity. His leadership will help us deepen our strategic partnerships, expand our reach, and create more opportunities for Okta and our partners to deliver for customers,” Mountstephen continued.

Synergy IT Solutions names John Ende as CEO

Synergy IT Solutions, an IT services and consulting company, has named John Ende as its new CEO.

Ende brings over 25 years of executive leadership experience, most recently serving as President, CEO, and Board Member of Great Lakes Dental Technologies.

“After a thoughtful and comprehensive search, the Board unanimously concluded that John is the right leader to guide Synergy into its next chapter,” said Jamie Newtown, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “John brings a unique combination of growth leadership, operational excellence, and a deep appreciation for the value and responsibility of employee ownership.”

Prior to Great Lakes Dental Technologies, Ende held executive leadership roles at Nelson Bach USA, Hello Products, and The Mentholatum Company.

Binary Defense taps Dr. Aaron Estes as CPO

Binary Defense, an agentic MDR provider, has named Dr. Aaron Estes Chief Product Officer following his appointment as Vice President of Product in November 2025.

“Aaron sees where security operations are headed before the market does, and then he goes and builds it,” said Dave Kennedy, Founder and CEO of Binary Defense. “The next few years belong to teams that get the human and the AI working as one instead of fighting for the wheel.”

“That is the company Aaron is helping us build. NightBeacon CMD and Stealth are the first stages of our broader vision to reimagine the SOC for a world dominated by AI-powered threats,” Kennedy adds.

Estes brings more than 25 years of experience in software engineering and cybersecurity, including nearly two decades at Lockheed Martin. 

SecurityBridge names Tom Janoshalmi as Board Chairman

SecurityBridge has tapped IBM Consulting Global Managing Partner Tom Janoshalmi as chairman of the board.

Prior to IBM, Janoshalmi served as  EY Global Consulting SAP Leader and held several global executive roles at SAP.

EnGenius appoints Rachel Saunders as VP of Sales for North America

EnGenius Technologies Inc., a global provider of cloud-managed networking and intelligent edge solutions, announced the appointment of Rachel Saunders as VP of Sales, North America.

The move is meant to enhance Engenius’ leadership team as the company accelerates its channel-first growth strategy.

Saunders brings over 17 years of experience in telecommunications, networking, and technology sales. She will be tasked with expanding distributor and partner relationships, developing new routes to market, and increasing sales enablement to simplify the partner experience.

“Rachel brings a rare combination of deep channel experience, strong industry relationships, and a proven ability to build and scale partner-driven businesses,” said Eric Chen, General Manager of EnGenius Technologies North America. “Our partners are at the center of our growth strategy and her leadership will be instrumental as we make EnGenius an even stronger, easier company to do business with.”

AttackIQ taps Dave Mihelcic as Field CTO of Federal

AttackIQ, a leader in threat-informed Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM), announced the appointment of Dave Mihelcic as Field CTO – Federal.

Mihelcic will help federal agencies modernize cyber defense operations by adopting proactive, threat-informed, and AI-powered capabilities that continuously validate defensive effectiveness and improve mission readiness.

Mihelcic will work directly with federal technology and cyber leaders to translate mission requirements into operational CTEM programs. He will also help guide Federal adoption of AttackIQ’s AVA Agentic OS.

“Dave understands better than almost anyone what it takes to design, deploy, and sustain technology for the federal government’s most consequential missions,” said Carl Wright, Chief Commercial Officer, AttackIQ. “His experience as DISA’s CTO, combined with his deep understanding of the operational realities facing Federal cyber teams, will be invaluable as agencies shift from reactive security and periodic compliance to continuous, AI-enabled cyber defense.”

Mitel adds Jeroen de Witte as EVP of Engineering and Support

Business communications organization, Mitel, has appointed Jeroen de Witte as Executive Vice President, Engineering and Support.

He will be responsible for aligning Mitel’s technology strategy, product delivery, operational execution, architecture, support, and customer outcomes across its global unified communications portfolio.

“Jeroen is an accomplished technology executive with an attentive and collaborative approach to product development and strategic planning,” said Mike Robinson, CEO, Mitel. “Jeroen has worked closely with AI over the last six years, and this is a natural elevation of a proven leader and provides a seamless leadership transition for our engineering, support, and development teams.”

Prior to joining Mitel, de Witte held senior executive and technology leadership roles with Motorola Solutions, Airbus DS Communications, and PlantCML. 

Anaplan appoints Jared Coyle as EVP of AI

Anaplan has announced that Jared Coyle will take over as the company’s executive vice president, AI.

Coyle will lead the organization’s AI Center of Excellence, bringing his technical and go-to-market expertise to help run the center end-to-end.

“We’re driving the development of the Agentic Enterprise: role-based AI agents that reengineer how core business functions operate, on a shared, auditable foundation,” said Adam Thier, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Anaplan. “Jared has spent his career turning technology innovation – AI in particular – into outsized customer value.”

“Enterprises continue to mandate that AI deliver faster cycle times and real productivity gains, and I’m confident Jared’s proven expertise will provide the leadership this next phase of AI demands.”

Coyle brings more than 12 years of experience at SAP, most recently serving there as chief AI officer for the Americas.

Delinea appoints Timothy Regan as CFO

Identity security platform Delinea is appointing Timothy Regan, CPA, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Regan will lead the company’s global finance organization and strengthen Delinea’s commercial and operational foundation.

He brings more than two decades of financial leadership, most recently serving as CFO of Dropbox from 2020 to 2025. Prior to that, Regan served as VP Finance Controller at Pandora Media.

“AI is significantly expanding the identity security market,” said Art Gilliland, CEO at Delinea. “As agents take on more work across the enterprise, organizations count on Delinea to control what those agents are allowed to do. Tim brings deep experience in building systems for scale and operational rigor that will help us capture the opportunity in front of us.”

Din Uppal joins Unibeam as Head of Product & Partnerships

Unibeam, a cybersecurity company that turns secure chips inside SIM cards and eSIMs into a hardware-based identity signal, has hired Din Uppal as its Head of Product & Partnerships. 

After 10 years at Mastercard in security solutions, working across cybersecurity, identity, authentication, and fraud prevention strategy, his work at Unibeam will focus on security, the digital ecosystem, and building partnerships.

“My years in payment taught me how fraud and identity risk actually move through an ecosystem, and my time with Vodafone taught me how telcos provide connectivity and security,” Uppal wrote in a LinkedIn post. “Unibeam sits precisely where those two worlds meet and where I believe the next real advance in authentication and fraud prevention will come from.”

According to Unibeam, Uppal will work to advance Unibeam’s vision for simpler, more secure authentication by shaping its product strategy and working with partners to help them unlock greater value from technology in the mobile ecosystem.

Laserfiche names Garrett Boss as CISO

Laserfiche, a SaaS provider, has appointed Garrett Boss as CISO, overseeing the company’s global IT services team and business transformation office.

OTAVA appoints Justin Himebaugh to Vice President of Finance

He will be charged with overseeing financial planning and analysis, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and strategic financial initiatives.

Himebaugh brings more than 30 years of finance leadership experience across technology, professional services, and high-growth organizations. He previously served as Director of Finance at Worksighted.

C3 names Jon Bierer VP of Managed Compliance to drive CMMC readiness

C3, a cybersecurity and compliance solutions provider for the Defense Industrial Base, has promoted Jon Bierer to Vice President of Managed Compliance.

Bierer will be tasked with leading C3’s Managed Compliance service line, overseeing services that help clients achieve and sustain CMMC compliance.

Bierer initially joined C3 as a Senior Compliance Consultant before being promoted to Compliance Services Manager.
