Acture Solutions has acquired Connecticut-based MSP and internet service provider Digital Back Office, expanding its network connectivity, cybersecurity and managed IT capabilities as it builds a broader managed services platform focused on regulated industries.

Digital Back Office serves K-12 schools, municipalities and commercial customers across the Northeast, bringing Acture additional expertise in managed WAN, broadband, network design, monitoring and IT support. The deal also continues Acture’s broader growth strategy following its acquisition of Artilus earlier this year.

Digital Back Office adds networking and connectivity expertise

The company also provides end-to-end network management by combining leased fiber connectivity, internet access, and managed security solutions into a comprehensive service offering.

“Digital Back Office has built an outstanding reputation as a trusted technology partner to K-12 school districts and municipalities across Connecticut and beyond,” said Gabriel Stacy, CEO, Acture Solutions.

“Their technical expertise, customer-first culture, and long-tenured relationships make them an exceptional fit for Acture. Together, we’ll be able to offer our customers an even more comprehensive offering spanning network connectivity, managed IT, and cybersecurity solutions, while continuing to deliver the high-touch service we’re both known for,” Stacy added.

Acture expands services for regulated organizations

For Acture customers, the acquisition expands the range of services available through a single provider. Digital Back Office brings additional expertise in managed WAN, broadband connectivity, network design, monitoring and managed security, complementing Acture’s existing managed IT and cybersecurity services.

That gives customers access to a broader mix of infrastructure, connectivity and security capabilities without necessarily adding another vendor relationship.

The deal also reflects a broader M&A trend among MSPs: acquisitions are increasingly about adding specialized capabilities and increasing density in target markets, not simply adding revenue or customer count.

“Joining Acture marks an exciting next chapter – we share a commitment to exceptional customer service, technical excellence, and supporting local institutions,” said Francisco Palacio, President of Digital Back Office. “And I firmly believe that both our customers and employees will benefit from the additional resources and broader capabilities of the combined organization.”

Acquisition continues Acture’s MSP growth strategy

Acture customers should see the acquisition as an expansion of the MSP’s capabilities and resources rather than as an announced change to their existing services.

“This transaction, which follows our strategic growth financing from Stonepeak Credit and acquisition of Artilus earlier this year, represents another important milestone in Acture’s long-term strategy of building the premier managed services platform serving highly regulated end markets,” Stacy said.

“We are excited to welcome the Digital Back Office team to Acture and look forward to investing in our combined capabilities to better serve our customers for years to come,” Stacy continued.

In Acture’s case, Digital Back Office strengthens its position with regulated organizations while adding technical depth in networking and connectivity. For partners evaluating acquisitions of their own, the transaction is a useful example of how M&A can be used to fill service gaps, deepen vertical expertise, and create a more comprehensive managed services offering.
