    Dire Predictions Methodology

The Dire Predictions list of vendors solution providers believe will either go out of business or be acquired in the coming year is a result of The Channel Insider 2009 Market Pulse Survey. The Market Pulse survey is a measure and analysis of North America channel activity and benchmarks for anticipated market and revenue performance of solution providers, system integrators, managed service providers, value-added resellers and technology consultancies. Channel Insider, working with The Strategy Group, conducted the 2009 Market Pulse survey from Dec. 10 to Dec. 23, 2008. More than 200 qualified individuals participated in the survey. Vendors on the Dire Predictions list are those survey participants believe will either go out of business or be acquired in 2009. Survey participants were given a list of more than 20 vendors to select for the Dire Predictions list; they also had the option of submitting names of vendors not presented. The list is ranked by “reader prediction,” which is the percentage of survey participants that cited the vendor as a candidate for going out of business or being acquired.
