IT distributor Tech Data announced Feb. 6 that it will bundle document management software from ISVs with its printing and imaging hardware lines in an effort to improve the success of VARs building document management solutions.

The Clearwater, Fla.-based distributor signed deals this week with ISVs DocuLex, iDatix, and Questys Solutions to add their content-capture and archiving solutions to Tech Data's Document Imaging unit portfolio, which already includes scanners, storage hardware, imaging software, accessories, vendor service agreements and extended warranties.

The ISV-adjoined bundles bring a new level of functionality to VARs building solutions primarily for the SMB (small and midsize business) segment, said Wendy Linsky, Tech Data's vice president of Peripherals, Supplies & Accessories Product Marketing.

"The latest imaging solutions now available to our customers offer the same functionality and process efficiencies that had traditionally been limited to enterprise-level applications," she said in a prepared statement. "Now, savvy solution providers are leveraging our product offering to cost-effectively deploy these imaging solutions to their SMB accounts and provide end users with compelling cost savings and productivity gains."

The DocuLex, iDatix and Questys Solutions agreements follow the announcement in November that Tech Data's Point-of-Service/Data Capture unit would bundle its hardware lineup with data storage solutions by ISV MTI Technology, providing more functionality to VARs and customers in the retail and supermarket sector.

Under the document management agreement, Tech Data will bundle its printing and imaging line with:

  • DocuLex's Archive Studio and Archive Studio Pro, Office Capture Data Management and Goby Capture Data Management systems. The company specializes in accounting, aerospace, banking, legal, insurance and manufacturing sectors.

  • iDatix's iSynergy Small Business Solution, a complete imaging appliance that automates the collection, processing, storage and retrieval of paper and electronic documents solution for SMBs.

  • Questys Solutions' Pro line of five electronic records and content management solutions designed to be customized for vertical markets such as corporate, health care, education, law enforcement and retail.
