    Seagate ships new SATA drives through the channel and signs a Brazilian distributor; EMC adds NetEx's data replication optimizer to its channel program; LiveVault expands its channel program; and Netgear adds Chinese distributor.

  • Seagate Adds Brazilian Distributor, Ships New SATA Drives Through Channel

    Seagate Technology LLC, of Scotts Valley, Calif., has made one of Brazil's top five distributors its main distributor in the country.

    The goal of adding Alcateia to Seagate's distribution roster is to make the vendor's products available to more small and midsized resellers in Latin America, said Don Kennedy, Seagate's vice president of channel sales for the Americas.

    Seagate also will make its new nearline NL35 Series SATA (Serial ATA) available directly through the channel.

    This is the first time Seagate has made a member of its NL35 nearline family available directly through the channel.

  • McAfee Adds Features to Partner Program

    McAfee Inc., of Santa Clara, Calif., has added several new features to its McAfee Security Alliance program designed to encourage more sales and increase profitability.

    The new "Try It Before You Buy It" program allows partners to provide customers with a new IntruShield, Foundstone or WebShield appliance, allowing them to buy it at the end of the trial period, while the McAfee Security Action Pack offers partners the ability to test and use selected McAfee solutions in their own environments before selling those solutions to their client base.

    The MAX Hotline is another new feature providing a variety of extended support options.

  • LiveVault Expands Channel Program

    LiveVault Corp., of Marlborough, Mass., has expanded its channel program by signing 14 new channel partners around the country to resell its CDP (continuous data protection) and online back and recovery solutions.

    LiveVault's new partners include Axis Microsystems of Boston; Bandwave Systems of Burlington, N.J.; Center Stage Inc. of Atlanta; PC&C Computer Services of Stuart, Fla.; Kodak Dental Systems of Atlanta; Access Recovery Solutions of Schererville, Ind.; Computer Access Group of Cincinnati; Prospera of Cincinnati; CTO2 of Holland, Mich.; RSM Technologies of Chicago; Copper Bridge Inc. of Redwood City, Calif.; Xantrion of Oakland, Calif.; and Oso Grande of Albuquerque, N.M.

  • EMC Select Adds NetEx HyperIP

    EMC Corp. now will resell the HyperIP DRO (Data Replication Optimizer) appliance from NetEx of Minneapolis through its EMC Select program, which allows customers to purchase products like tape libraries, HBAs (host bus adapters) and software directly from EMC.

    By adding NetEx's HyperIP DRO product, EMC will be able to expand its offerings to include storage networking components, said Tom Joyce, EMC's vice president of platforms marketing.

  • Netgear Adds Chinese Distributor

    Netgear Inc., of Santa Clara, Calif., has signed leading distributor Digital China of Beijing. Digital China has a network of more than 6,000 resellers and agents in China and will distribute Netgear's line of networking products.

  • Engenio Develops Online Course for 2882 Array

    Engenio Information Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of LSI Logic Corp. based in Milpitas, Calif., has announced an online course to help partners and customers how to install, configure and maintain an Engenio 2882 array, which Sun resells as the Sun StorEdge 6130 system.

    The course, called Engenio 2882 with SANtricity 9: Installation & Configuration, offers information about how to set up a new storage array, manage it and maintain it over time.
