    The Web security vendor taps ex-IBM executive John Charles to run its U.S. channel.

    Web security vendor Finjan has appointed John Charles vice president of North American sales.

    Charles, who was formerly national sales manager for enterprise sales within the Global Payments Technology section of Carreker and has 19 years in various sales management positions at IBM, will be responsible for sales operations and the channel in the United States and Canada.

    John Vigouroux, president and CEO of Finjan, said in a statement: "This appointment reflects Finjan's emphasis on the U.S. market, which is the largest geographic market for Finjan's products and technology and represents a major strategic opportunity. John's track record is an exemplary one in the IT and security industries and I look forward to him making an immediate and long term contribution to Finjan and our business agenda."

    Charles added in a statement: "Finjan is a recognized leader in the secure web gateway market. I look forward to working with our experienced sales team and channel partners in order to deliver effective security solutions to the U.S. enterprise market."
