This is similar to traditional technology leasing, although the term "leasing" in this case is a bit of a misnomer. That's because software consists of intellectual property and is licensed rather than sold as real property. Because software is not a physical asset that retains value and can be returned at the end of the "lease" period, the terms may be different and some non-technology-savvy lenders may not want to participate.
