Distributor Bell Microproducts announced Niksun, a network security vendor, and the second security component as part of a quarter-long security awareness initiative.

The deal enables Bell Micro to provide its resellers with Niksun's full portfolio of security, forensics, compliance, network-to-application availability and performance solutions.

Niksun, of Monmouth Junction, N.J., provides a TiVo-like recording capability, the data mining speed of a Google-like search engine and world-class analytics.

It is the second deal to be announced as part of Bell Micro's fourth-quarter Security Awareness initiative to increase the security portfolio and profile.

Bell Micro, primarily known for storage and infrastructure solutions, expects the new security initiative to increase their share of resellers and expand the capabilities of the resellers it has, the company said in a prepared statement.
