Lenovo: Out of the Gate with Intel's Centrino 2
    ( Page 1 of 4 )

Lenovo's latest SL series notebooks may not be the thinnest or lightest around, but they do pack a punch thanks to Intel's Centrino 2 technology.

Lenovo is looking to equip the SMB market with the latest in notebook technology with Lenovo's SL series.

Designed from the outset as an SMB offering, the ThinkPad SL series aims to combine value with performance while still offering the features that matter the most to small and medium businesses. Some of those  features include wireless broadband, integrated Web cameras, Blu-ray drive support and HDMI connectivity for video out.

Lenovo provided Channel Insider with a SL400 for testing, the SL400 is the midrange unit in the line and features a 14.1” WXGA display. Two other models, a SL300 with a 13.3” display and a SL500 with a 15.4” WXGA display are also available.

As tested, the SL400 came with discrete (NVIDIA GeoForce 9300) graphics, Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26Ghz), 2 Gbytes RAM and a 160 gbyte hard disk drive. Weighing in at close to six pounds and over an inch and a half thick, the SL400 is not ideal for the jet-set, but with a price of just $999, the unit is kind to the pocket book.
