Tech Data will manage the European supply chain and distribution of Google's Chromecast media streaming device.
Tech Data Europe has inked a deal to manage the supply chain and distribution of Google's Chromecast media streaming device.
Under the agreement, Tech Data Mobile Solutions will deliver fulfillment services to Google's indirect channel across Europe. These services include logistics, transportation management, forecasting, procurement consolidation, inventory management, invoicing and collection.
Tech Data Mobile Solutions can handle the distribution of Google's Chromecast streaming device in Europe because of its logistics infrastructure, which can process hundreds of thousands of orders for overnight shipment to all parts of Europe. In addition, the distribution giant has created a dedicated central account management team and services program to support Google's sales team.
"Along with leading mobile solutions and enablement services, Tech Data Mobile Solutions has the commercial and operational relationships with key retailers that provide Google with a centralized pan-European approach," Rod Millar, senior vice president, Tech Data Mobile Solutions, said in a statement. "Together, we will provide authorized retailers the highest levels of expertise and service."
Chromecast is a $35 device that plugs into a TV's High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port that allows users to watch anything from the Internet—movies, TV shows, music and YouTube videos—on their TVs. Although the device has been available in the United States since mid-2013, it recently went on sale in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland, as well as Canada.
