IT channel companies can expect healthier sales in 2014, according to the most recent forecast from CompTIA. The accompanying report from the IT industry association, "IT Industry Outlook 2014," projects worldwide revenue will rise 3.4 percent for the year ahead, with an upside potential of 5.9 percent. (The U.S.-only forecast is slightly lower, with 3 percent projected growth and an upside possibility of 5.4 percent.) With the global IT market at $3.6 trillion in 2013, channel partners are pinning their hopes on the potential of cloud, mobility, big data and other dominant technologies. All this is expected to transform the traditional channel "tech company" into a trusted partner that helps customers meet critical business goals, according to study. "The importance of technology to business success has never been greater, as IT continues to transition from a supporting tool to a strategic driver," said Tim Herbert, vice president of research at CompTIA. Channel Insider examines key takeaways from the report.
