In spite of the rise of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solutions, modernizing IT infrastructure remains a high priority for most organizations, according to the findings of a new survey. The survey of 369 respondents from companies with more than $50 million in revenue that attended conferences hosted by Schneider Electric showed that more than half are well on their way to converging information and operational technology systems as part of a larger effort to reduce costs. Respondents said that telecommunications and data center projects had the biggest impacts on their organizations. The challenge, of course, is often pulling together the IT and facilities expertise required to complete those projects successfully. But with a fair amount of that expertise already existing in the channel, chances are that solution providers will soon get a chance to profit from the investments they have made in acquiring those skills. Channel Insider takes a look at the study's key findings on the convergence of IT and operational technology, infrastructure modernization, efficiency initiatives and sustainability demands.
