Tech Data, the world’s second largest IT distributor, has tapped Murray Wright, who has worked extensively in Canada’s IT field, as its new sales chief.

Wright, who will hold the title of senior vice president for U.S. Sales, will officially start his new position with Tech Data, based in Clearwater, Fla., on Nov. 27, the company said in a statement.

Wright’s appointment comes two months after the company announced that Robert Dutosky had been appointed as CEO.

Steve Raymund, who retired from the CEO position, remains chairman of the board.

Before joining Tech Data, Wright worked as the president and general manager for Lenovo Canada, where he oversaw sales, marketing and channel strategies.

In addition, Wright has held several other positions with the Canadian divisions of several companies, including Ingram Micro, Sharp Electronics, Triathlon Leasing and Xerox.
