Caspio announced today the unveiling of Caspio Bridge SOHO (small office/home office), a free package that will give small and midsize business users the opportunity to construct Web database applications without programming.

Frank Zamani, founder and CEO of Caspio, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., said in an interview that he developed this package because he likes to see Caspio products get as much coverage and usage as possible while broadening the company’s user base.

“We like to get as much usage as possible out of our products,” Zamani said. “We offer free add-ons to our products because not only do we want customers to try out our products, but we would like to be able to try and attract new customers as well.”

Zamani also said that it’s a good thing to keep up with how the Internet works today.

“We want to get our product in the hands of anyone who may have a use for it,” said Zamani. “The spirit of the Internet calls for free things and we know from experience that over time a fair number of SOHO accounts will convert to a paying package. Those users remaining on the free product will be a source of good will and positive word of mouth.”

The SOHO package is a new supplement to the Caspio Bridge online service, which includes a built-in Web database that incorporates point-and-click application building tools.

“We are delighted that the success of Caspio Bridge is allowing us to bring the same hosted platform used by Fortune 500 companies to one-person entrepreneurs and small businesses at no cost,” said Zamani, in a company statement.

Caspio’s free SOHO service features a lead generation system that connects to their management program for tracking customers and communications schedules, and offers reporting functionality to sustain customer databases.

Also, Caspio boasts that this free service will allow users to replace existing lead generation systems with Caspio’s and tailor it to customized needs.

“We want to show users that they can build their entire Web business around Caspio Bridge, as many of our customers have already done,” said Zamani in the same statement.

Caspio Bridge SOHO is available now and users can sign up for a free trial or SOHO account at Caspio’s Web site.
