Bill Clinton to Speak at Microsoft Partner Confab
Former President Bill Clinton will add political and humanitarian star power to this year’s gathering of software developers and resellers as the special guest speaker at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference next month in Washington, D.C.
Allison Watson, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s worldwide partner group, started telegraphing teasers of a special guest speaker at the annual partner confab. Her only hint was that it wasn’t former Microsoft leader Bill Gates.
Clinton will speak on the fourth day of the conference at the capital’s Walter E. Washington Convention Center on "Embracing our Common Humanity." As founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation, President Clinton has traveled the world speaking and working to strengthen American ties and extend assistance in humanitarian relief efforts. Most recently, he and former President George W. Bush spearheaded private sector relief efforts for the victims on the Haitian earthquake.Subscribe to Channel Insider. Microsoft announced Clinton as the guest speaker last night on the WPC homepage and through local Twitter feeds in countries around the world.
The Worldwide Partner Conference begins July 11 with resellers and software developers participating in two local humanitarian and charity projects Microsoft coordinated with the American Red Cross and YMCA.
Also scheduled to speak at the event are Watson, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Microsoft COO Kevin Turner.
